So if Broken Blade is only streaming on Crunchyroll outside the US, does that mean that FUNimation has the streaming rights here in the States?
That would be odd, to say the least, seeing as how Sentai Filmworks licensed the films this show is based off already. |

It's entirely possible, since the movies (which are on CR) are streaming in the US from Sentai, the added scenes are negligible as far as licensing goes. It definitely implies that it's a Showgate title though, because of the streaming territories and has only happened with FUNi Showgate titles thus far. It would set a new precedent for Showgate titles on CR though, if it does turn out to be a Sentai license. Last edited by The Coffee God on Sat Apr 05, 2014 7:05 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Crunchyroll does up to 1080p and has apps for phones and most settop boxes(god that's an outdated term if ever there was one).

Because Crunchyroll is doing it *legally*. And as another comment mentions, it shows up to 1080p and can be watched on almost every kind of phone, tablet, gaming station and PC. |

I don't see any indication that Funimation has this on their site. Someone has it, though, since it's blocked. It is odd that S23 hasn't said anything about this. |

I doubt FUNi has it. Like I mentioned earlier, it's likely that the differences between the Movies/TV series are negligible as far as licensing goes. Meaning, since the Movies license covers the US, which CR is already streaming, CR likely decided that the TV series was probably worth the money to get streaming for other territories from Showgate that the Movie license didn't cover since it's directly from Sentai. |

It's kind of a bummer for those of us in N.A. who are curious about the extra content that is supposed to be in the TV version here.
Not that I was expecting all that much, but it is weird that S23, or whoever, has decided that we shouldn't be included in the streaming license. Oh well... (just on the FYI front, I own S23's bluray set for the movies, and probably would double dip if the added content was worth it.) |

It's probably not so much someone actually "deciding" not to include an NA license, but probably more in the lines of how copyright licenses actually work. The TV is a compilation derivative of the movies, with some minor additions, and since the Movies license already covers NA, it's already "technically" streaming in the US on CR (as well as TAN and Hulu) through the already established Sentai license. This is why I highly doubt it's actually a FUNi title. For licensing purposes, it's probably not a different enough derivative of the original content to be a completely separate and unique license from the original already streaming content. |
