Will this offset the negative publicity generated for Japanese cops by Samurai Flamenco?
How does "Join the Tokyo Police, we have robots" work out when they don't have any robots? Going back to Flamenco, they don't even offer defense training or really anything but a safety vest and a tiny pistol that looks like something Kojak might carry. |

Again no offence to Chris Nishijima, but actually, the Comic Natalie article says that Patlabour collaborates with 警察庁, and 警察庁 is the National Police Agency. The organisation which is often translated as the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department is 警視庁. The photo in the ANN article and one of the Comic Natalie photos, too, say, '警察庁.' Since the Comic Natalie article says, '都道府県警察の名前が入れられた,' there might be the Keishichō version of the poster, though. At the University of Oxford, even undergraduates who read Japanese are recommended to have Kōjien. It may be better for Mr/Ms Nishijima to have a better Japanese dictionary. |

There's no need for recruitment campaigns - Japan already have so many police officers!
Japan police literally has nothing much else to do. They have a lot more police officers for a lot less crimes per capita. They can afford to use 190,000 officers in one case or 4,000 officers to hunt a rape suspect. Recruits gonna be paid to sit in the koban all day. |

I've revised the article to specify that it's a nationwide collaboration with the NPA, and that different regional police agencies will receive their own versions of the poster, which is written in the article. The images in the Comic Natalie article merely illustrate the poster as a template, with replaceable text (one shows the NPA, another shows a prefectural agency); it was a little confusing because the text of the article does specifically mention 警視庁 by name. |
