I'll repeat since this is the appropriate thread, I hope AT-X runs it uncensored because the streams won't be.

I don't understand streams like these. They stream censored to make you buy the bluray, but who watches the stream? There is absolutely no reason to watch this show except the boobs, and if they are censored, why are you watching it? This isn't like Qwaser, where there actually WAS a story and character development, and the battles were actually good. There is nothing to see in MakenKi other then boobs.
PS: I'm serious about Qwaser. For all the icky fanservice it had, it really did have a coherent plot, good battles and really nice BGM, plus the characters actually evolved as the show went on. Sure, the 2nd season shat all over said character development, but don't most 2nd seasons do that anyway?

I'm totally stoked for this!
Season 1 was nice, but I'm really looking forward to seeing how Hiraku Kaneko takes care of this series. He's really gonna ramp up the fanservice, that's for sure at least. The direction and key animation should be great, and Yousuke Kuroda's still on staff to keep the series' writing consistent with the season by AIC. Hope he and Kaneko work out a good plan for this season since it'd be difficult to follow the manga at this point.
I really hope FUNimation puts this out on home video later on, just like season 1. Their dub for it was great.

The funny thing is that this news came out right after Key reviewed the first season for ANN. Negatively.

Judging by the ad art, might as well call it "Fan Service: The Animation".

Not trying to be vulgar here, but seriously, what's wrong with that girl's tits? They look like they're about to fall off her and become an independent lifeform.

What has always surprised me is how often the character designers for these sorts of shows don't even know what a real female body looks like. It's like they first learned to draw anatomy - especially chest anatomy - from looking at exaggerated fanart on 2channel.

It's safe to say the character designers and other staff are fully aware of how exaggerated and unrealistic their designs are. It's all about upping the eroticism beyond reality, which works in animation, especially on shows like this.
Akio Takami has worked on several fanservice-based shows before and he seems to have made a good name for himself over at Xebec, so it's no surprise to see him doing character designs here, and as a fan of his artstyle and designs, I know that at least I personally am satisfied with his interpretations of these characters.

I think realistic (or just slightly exaggerated) female body shapes are way sexier than grotesquely exaggerated proportions. I mean take Eiken for example: who the heck even liked the breasts in that? Those weren't sexy girls, or even girls at all; they were just something out a freak show.

But they weren't supposed to be sexy. They were openly mocking the giant breast stereotype. You WERE supposed to think those things were grotesque.

You are the first person I've ever heard that's said Eiken was a parody, so I find your claim a tad dubious.

Oh, God, please tell me it IS a parody. I just assumed it was. You're telling me that Eiken was supposed to be taken seriously? Humanity cannot have sunk that low.

At least there's a silver lining that you can take solace in; Eiken is so horrific that - by comparison - Maken-Ki is a respectable, intelligent and good-looking series.
