"Haruka Godai?" Does this series take place after the manga?

The name of the actress playing Kyoko is Misaki Itoh, not Misami Itou.

Where'd you see the name Haruka? And that casting looks pretty great! They certainly nailed Kyoko, and the guy playing Yotsuya looks pretty inspired. Godai looks a little clean cut, though, and Ms. Ichinose is both way too tall and way too skinny. I think the best casting is probably Soichiro, though. On a slightly related topic, the best line ever from Viz's MI anime dub.... Kyoko: "Oh, Soichiro, please forgive me!" Yotsuya (to Godai): "What...have you done...to her dog?" |

Are they compressing the story that much? The Story page on the website seems to be an accurate synopsis of the situation at the start... |

I agree. Ms. Ichinose should have probably been older too. On a related note, I am dissapointed that Akemi's dress isn't see through enough . So much for fan service . Oh well, I hope the show is fun.
Oh my! You are right! If this is true that makes the entire series that much more interesting! |

Ah, I missed that - have to re-visit the page again...
Well, the casting looks interesting... We will have to see how the series shapes up... This is a first for Rumiko Takahashi I believe, to have one of her series done as a Live show... |

Although not a live-action show per se, Maison Ikkoku was previously adapted as a live-action movie in 1986. |

I believe the story starts out in the future with Haruka reflecting on the past. That's why she's cast. On the overall, it doesn't seem like the timeline has changed though.

Granny looks eerily similar to her manga counterpart, though I suppose she's probably taller. I'm not sure what the deal with Kozue's glasses are. I'm pretty far in the anime and haven't read the manga in quite some time, but I don't remember her ever wearing glasses, but forgive me if she did. Everyone looks so well casted, at least in terms of likeness. It's very easy to tell who's who just by the pictures. I do hope this one is a homerun. |

When they meet for the first time during the series, Godai and Kozue had previously worked together. He doesn't recognize her because she used to wear glasses but now has contacts. Then they go on their first mini-date or whatever and she makes some comment about how she *knew* it was the right move to get contacts. She very, very rarely actually wears glasses in the anime or manga. I wouldn't think more than 2 or 3 times. Edit: Also, who's that on the upper left? Sakamoto? And no casting for Kentaro? That's weird, he's a fairly major character. |

I'm remembering all of that now. Thanks for the refresher. I should probably re-read the series since I'm in no position to restart the anime anytime soon. The guy on the top left is Sakamato, and lack of Kentaro doesn't make any sense to me. I hope they're not cutting him out. |
