NBC TO TEAM UP WITH GOZNO TO CREATE 'WELCOME TO NBC'

YUSUKE YAMAMOTO TO DIRECT THE SERIES BASED OFF ITS JAPANESE COUNTERPART, 'WELCOME TO THE N.H.K.'

BURBANK, Calif. - March 29, 2007 - In a press conference today held in Burbank, NBC Universal announced a partnership with GONZO to create "Welcome to NBC," an animated series currently in production and scheduled to air in 2008. "Welcome to NBC" is based off of "Welcome to the N.H.K.," a widly popular series in Japan that is gaining fans all across the world, including the United States where the manga has been released by Tokyopop. Ysuske Yamamoto, the brainchild behind "Welcome to the N.H.K," will direct the series. When asked about why he took up the directing job for "Welcome to NBC," he stated: "I like challenges. And maybe this time this series will be better than the first time I made it." Like "Welcome to the N.H.K.," "Welcome to NBC" will revolve around the lives of several young adults living in the city of Los Angeles. Futher details about the plotline have been disclosed at the time, but Yamamoto said that "'Welcome to NBC' will be completely different than its counterpart." NBC also announced that a special sneak preview of the series will air during the season finale of "Heroes," complete with a short interview by Yamamoto. The full interview will then be available on NBC.com, complete with behind-the-scenes footage, exclusive sketches, and an extended trailer.

Several young adults living in L.A.? Sounds like a potential West Coast animated version of Friends.

Hmm, it is that time of the year again, isn't it? Laughing Nevertheless, IF this were to be real - I'm all for it.

Universal is releasing some anime titles on home video in Japan, so I wouldn't be surprised if we'll see them here in the near future.

I'm guessing NBC stands for "National B*llsh*t Caucus" in this case?

I like how the internet has managed to turn April Fools' Day from "prank your friends day" into "lie about something plausible to a million people on the internet day".

It used to be about saran wrap on the toilet seat. Now it's about making up plausible lies - like "Geneon to license Code Geass!" and seeing how far it spreads because it's completely plausible and believable, rather than being funny or ridiculous.

So I'd like to petition April Fools' Day to change its name to "Lie about stuff" day. It's more appropriate at this point.

Saran wrap on the toilet seat?! WTH, who thought of that. that's just down right mean. You're mean Zac. Though, it would be funny if I did that since my gf has to get up early on the 1st. this should teach everyone a lesson though, the internet is not for information anymore. "The internet is for porn" (if you don't get that google it under videos)

Its only mean if its done to you. Otherwise its damn funny. By the way, including the word porn in a Google search for Videos would seem to me to be a somewhat bad idea.

Including pretty much any word in a search on yahoo will bring up porn...what in the hell does a piano have to do with bestiality...
