I read somewhere that in December (date escapes me) Mr. Miyazaki always declares what movie he's working on (if he is working on one) and it occured to me that I haven't seen any news about the man this month. The last item ANN had on it was for the finished colored story boards.

Ghibli releases a new movie every two years, so the next movie won't be coming around till 2008.

Ghibli released no details about that film at Toho's December announcement of their 2007 films, which is the December event you're thinking of.

Are you thinking of Miyazaki's son who made that new movie? I think that might be it.

No there is in fact a new film that Hayao is working on. I saw details about it on GhibliWorld but apparently they took it off as GhibliWorld is not managed by either of the Miyazaki's or studio executives. I unfortunately don't recall any other details than what I've said. But I can also say that this film will be his "last one" (no foolin, for real this time) Wink

there is indeed a new film he is working on give me a sec *runs to find neo mag* ok he tells us it will take him around 20 months and the film will be realsed in 2008, although nothing of the plot has been givin away it is heavly rumoured to be set in old japan's port city of Kobe. Also he has aparently been drawing some very odd storyboards in water colour.

thats all the info i got.

I'll believe that when they put the man's remains into his grave. Seriously, the same thing was said about Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away, and he came back to direct another film both times. Laughing
