In Kemonozume, there are several scenes in which a crazed lunatic named Ooba says absolutely despicable things while a catchy little jingle plays in the background.
One such example is here, starting at 05:11 (right after "Happy new year!"). Ooba is talking about rolling an enormous concrete sphere into the middle of a city, releasing a gas that will turn the entire population into flesh-eating monsters... while he dances around the light-hearted tune. A juxtaposition similar to this one is also used in episode 10, and that one is slightly more disturbing. |

a specific example being in hellsing ultimate episode 2.
there was a light jazz mix as luke valentine was slaughtering some hellsing organization soldiers with his blade. also there was a latin type mix when seras was destroying the hellsing soldiers turned ghoul. |

Okay, I have seriously now watched every anime that's been mentioned (most of them not being quite enough violent for my tastes :P), my favourite being Gantz and its music playing while people's heads are exploding :D. Anyone got anymore? Or is that it for this artistic combination? :)

From Cowboy Bebop there is semi-violent scene after Spike first encounters Vicious. spoiler[When he is shot out the church and is falling] the song Green Bird plays. It's not super happy but it conflicts with whats happening.

I loved the way that scene was done. I nearly cried. Another great example from Cowboy Bebop is in episode 20 when spoiler[Spike is fighting Tongpu or whatever that guy's name was; the homicidal maniac with the mind of a child guy] and they had the creepy carnival music playing in the background. I think that was the most disturbing thing I have ever seen. |
