Directly from the horse's mouth John Sirabella of Media Blasters on this thread on AOD about MB not having Season 2 of AMG!
check the final 2 or 3 pages to get to the proper spot Last edited by Vicserr on Tue Nov 07, 2006 9:42 pm; edited 1 time in total |

That's nice to hear about Kashimashi. I don't really care about the other two (I love the High School Girls manga, but I dropped the anime after three episodes).

I never heard of Girls High or Ramen Girl, but I'm really excited about the Kashimashi liscence! I've been wanting to see this series for a long time

I've seen all of Kasimasi and, although I wasn't a big fan, I'm happy to see it get licensed. I'll definitely pick it up whenever it's released since I want to support more shoujo-ai and similar titles coming stateside.

Thank goodness we're finally getting some yuri anime over here! I wonder if Kashimashi is going to be sub-only like Media Blaster's BL anime.
And although I haven't seen it for myself yet, I've heard people refer to Joshikosei as "half yuri" because the fanservice is so extreme. Here are some eye-popping screenshots from the first episode as an example. ) |

"What 'Ramen Girl'?!" was my first impression, not to mention that Mr. Sirabella was not certain about the title himself. Then I thought, "could it be Muteki Kanban Musume?" Turned out I'm not alone.

I find that extremely odd if Media Blasters does get that since the company credits says Geneon USA is involved. And usually when it says that, Geneon already has a hold of it. Hmmm, Kashimashi as a sub-only release? I hope to GOD that doesn't happen! |

Seven Seas seems interested in building it up as the Gravitation of shoujo-ai. I think it could be, so I would hate for MB to do it sub-only and kill the market for it, although I'm all for cheaper DVDs too, especially for a series I don't care to watch dubbed anyway. As long as there's an artbox in the deal, I'll be happy. |

Well, as someone from the Something Awful forums pointed out to me, co-production does not necessarily guarantee a license even if the company in question is the would-be licenser. I used to think that this only applied if Geneon of Japan was co-producing but I guess it can happen with Geneon of America. If we didn't already find the details surrounding the license of AMG, I would have suggested that Media Blasters and Geneon traded, though unless Geneon threw in some extra stuff, this isn't that fair of a trade. |

It figured it meant Muteki Kanban Musume the moment I read it. I simply can't think of any other series it could be refering to.
Not necessarily. There are a number of series that have that in it that either haven't been licensed or went to someone else. |

The cases you are refering to are when Geneon of Japan co-produced it. Muteki Kanban Musume will be the first instance of an anime co-produced by Geneon of America that was not licensed by Geneon of America. |

I know there is Geneon and Geneon U.S.A., but I'm pretty sure I've seen Geneon USA in titles that aren't licensed or were licensed by other people.

Hmm, wierd that I knew absolutely nothing about this series until I just did a little research on it for the character in the Crazy Character Tournament... And right after I post it I hear about its license... I don't really care about the Kashimashi license since I've already expressed my dislike of it before. Guess it's a good step for shoujo-ai... But Girls High I actually liked and I will probably buy it when it comes out... still have a few of the episodes on my computer since I liked them so much... guess I could delete them now... |

Maybe I'll get lucky and Media Blasters will actually go all out with Kashimashi. (To be honest, if there isn't a dub track for this, I'll just have to pass. If I wanted it sub-only I would have stuck with the fansubs and I'm not all that impressed by Media Blasters' releases anyway.) Girl's High is a possible pick-up since it seems pretty unlikely they'll rank it a total niche title and screw it up. Most of what I've heard makes me want it. I was hopeful that Geneon would pick these up. Just hope MB doesn't lose my money. *Edited for mistakes. I'm freaking tired and angry. |

I saw that AoD post earlier, and I have to wonder...how "official" is a post on a forum? Is there a precedent for licensing being announced in this fashion? Plus, he said they'd be releasing "shows like" Girls High, Girl Meets Girl, and Ramen Girl, not necessarily those series
I like "High School Girls" better than the grammatically wrong "Girl's High," and since I was marginally involved in the fansubbing of it, I'll definitely get the DVDs. That's not the only reason, of course--I did like the series, and I hope they don't go the sub-only route on it. (Of course, if the dub is going to be a massive failure like Green Green's, we might be better off that way.) And Kashimashi? Do want, since we can always do with more shoujo-ai released over here |
