The MPAA says the current Satoshi Kon film has been rated R for "violent and sexual images". Moviefone notes that it's expected to get a U.S. release this coming March. Thanks To Daniel Zelter For The News Item. |
Guess this won't get on Cartoon Network then.

Paprika will have better chances of being on Cartoon Network if the movie gets an English dub (of which I'm hoping).

Just how wide of a release will that be? I'm guessing New York, Los Angeles and other places nowhere near me.

Exactly forget the rating, if there is no English dub I have a feeling it won't be ever coming on CN or [AS].

All I know is that I am going to see this movie when it gets release, assuming that it does play somewhere near LA.....I am hoping that I don't have to drive to the middle of nowhere to see it.

Even if it does get dubbed, would Cartoon Network even air R rated movies? We didn't get Spirited Away or Howl's Moving Castle in theaters here, but we did get the FMA movie, so I'm not sure if they'll play Paprika around here or not. If they do, I'm definitely going to go see it. I'm normally not a big moviegoer, but I'll always make an expection for Kon films as I love his works. Perfect Blue and Millennium Actress are two of my all time favorite anime movies and the Paprika trailer already has me really excited about it.

[as] did show the Cowboy Bebop movie, which was rated 'R,' granted with some editing.

Having seen the movie, I'd give it a 50/50 chance of [as] picking it up. It has a decent amount of action, but no big guns or explosions. If Paranoia Agent wasn't that hot for [as], Paprika won't do well either.

No duh. With some editing. I'd go see this if they had a release for it though.

So why are they rating this, is going to be released here theatrically? If so it's page lacks the liscensor. It sounds good nonetheless.

I thought America was all about sex and violence. O.o
I think it'll make it to CN eventually no matter what the rating is. Unless they have some stupid policy about NEVER having R rated content no matter what time of the day it is.

Violence? Yes. Sex? Not really. Swear words? No.
Unedited "R" material on basic cable or satellite? Never.

It might have something to do with film festivals showing it here, but that's just a guess.

ANN rated it "teenagers" so I figured it would be rated PG-13... I guess I was wrong. I hope I'll still be able to see this movie... 'Cause I really want to see it. It seems like a great movie. And I really liked Paranoia Agent after I actually watched a few episodes of it, so I'd like to see movies Satoshi Kon has directed. Well, except for Perfect Blue. Perfect Blue seems like a very good movie, but to be honest, I'm scared to get it.
I'll probably have to wait until Paprika is out on DVD to see it though. I doubt it's gonna be in a theatre in Kentucky. The FMA movie wasn't even showing anywhere in Kentucky...
I'm not really sure if Adult Swim will ever air Paprika or not. Like other people have said, it will have to be dubbed. (I hope it gets a dub, since I prefer dubs anyway.) Unless it has a lot of extremely violent and sexual stuff in it, I think they could show it (if it's dubbed). They just might edit it a bit. But how many people watched Paranoia Agent? If there wasn't many people watching Paranoia Agent, they probably won't bother with Paprika. =/
