Looking forward to playing Final Fantasy XIV regularly again. The Beta has been a lot of fun and there's been so much to do. You can easily blow a few hours just doing quests in town at level 1.
People have complained that 1.0 non-legacy players aren't getting the pre-order bonuses and early access, but I can't complain. 1.0 players are able to keep their old characters and items, 1/10 of their gil (I have about 250k now), their retainers, and their 1.0 CE bonuses. Plus we don't have to re-buy the game, just download it for free. Can't really complain at all about that, there's so many ways they could have screwed over 1.0 players and didn't. Emerje |

Oh sweet, that sounds like a reason to dig out my PSP again! Been so long....
Yeah, I'm a Suda51 fan, I'll get Killer is Dead.... eventually, I don't have a PS3 yet (seriously, and it's gonna wait a bit longer because I don't have a 3DS yet either and Pokemon! I need it!) |

Next week will be pretty awesome. I'm really excited for Killer is Dead mostly because the visual style looks cool.
I'll pick up 14, but the the game seems rather mediocre to me. I'm happy they made a game that's caught up to modern mmo's, but that really seems to be it. Well, at least it looks pretty. |

Honestly the 3ds is not that much better. If Atlus weren't around there probably would not be a single game worth anything on the system either. What do they have, another FE shafted and left to languish on a handheld and the ports of Abyss and Ocarina?
Besides Vita has at least Demon's Gaze and Ys IV coming out, a Ys game never before released in the US, I'm down. Plus the ports actually add a lot of content, the Disgaea 3 vita version adds the 25-50 dollar worth of dlc including the bonus stages with Rasberyl. Muramasa rebirth also adds quite a bit of content as does Golden. And seeing how the PSP is still getting new games, I am sure the vita will be supported for a while, and when all is said and done will have a nice library. The psp library vs the ds library is basically a coin flip in terms of quality. |

I've sat out the HD generation, so getting a handheld with a bunch of PS3 ports has a certain appeal to me. It seems like a nightmare for companies though; all the investment of HD development but for a substantially smaller audience. Whatever the case, the library is just too damn small. If I had a Vita, there are certainly games to get, but too few titles like Gravity Rush to sell me the system.
I'm intrigued by inspired the number of Vita games imitating Monster Hunter. Hopefully the formula yields enough return on investment to encourage a little experimentation. At least there's no shortage of fighting games. |

Do you honestly believe Atlus is the reason that the 3ds is killing the Vita ? Or that anyone actually cares about Abyss ? Anything Zelda is a system seller (shitty CDI games being the exception). Porn without porn and another Ys game Those will sell a lot of Life. Though, I'm going to get a Vita only for that Ys game. I know that few people on the planet actually care about the franchise. |

So far, I've found the Vita to be... a pretty good handheld. I was enamored with it when I first got it, what with the big screen and higher-end graphics, and for me it's the preferred way to play classic PS1 games (no more lamenting to find a save point when I want to stop playing!) TBH, though, I'm not loving it quite the same way I did the DS. I guess I'm a big fan of quirky, light-hearted games, and the DS had those in spades (Phoenix Wright, Sonic Rush, Nintendo's games, etc.) The heavy hitters of the Vita library so far are a bit ways more serious in tone, which is great if you're in the mood for it, but doesn't really capture my affection as much.

I know I am in the minority camp on this one but I would love to see more characters from the original Street Fighter make an appearance in SF IV. Yeah, Retsu was a scrub but it was so much fun to beat on him.
Lee and Geki would be pretty good to have in the game since Lee is a Kung-Fu master and Geki is a ninja. And for the fifth secret character in the new game? I'm actually kind of hoping for Jean Reno from Onimusha. |

Yeah if they're going to do that, maybe when they release a new version of SF because currently the roster is too big (kind of funny saying that right?) so yea sometimes more isn't better. Most people pick the more familiar characters and the rest aren't even touched. If you played online, the chances of seeing one of the least popular characters are almost 0. You can only do so many moves and combination that the devs will overlap another characters move. |

My buds and I always play at each other's respective houses and we like to cycle through different characters at a time to keep things nice and refreshing. When we do tournaments however, that is when the popular characters tend to be used.

I just bought a Vita and went with a PS+ subscription, so I've been enjoying Gravity Rush, Muramasa Rebirth, Atelier Totori, Gods Eater Burst (which is a PSP game, but it was free with the PS+ subscription), and of course all of the PSone classics that I can play on the go now (Final Fantasy VI, VII, VIII, and IX, Legend of Mana, Klonoa). I freaking love the Vita.

I was already thinking, "Man, wouldn't it be awesome if it were Linn Kurosawa?" and then you went and asked the question. Boggles my mind that no one else has asked for that.

Somehow it does not surprise me to see this column go out of it's way to downplay the PS4 launch based off of Gamescom while completely ignoring the fact that Microsoft were there too and managed to show or announce practically nothing while Sony announced like 20 PS4 games and is still launching with more available titles on day one than Xbox One will have in November.
Sorry go all console wars here, but the double standards on show from the American media about these machines has been frustrating to witness the past couple of months. |
