Yea, I'm a n00b to this forum. I'm just curious what kind this is. I fall in and out anime but I mostly stick to the subs myself. Also haven't gotten any manga since.. last year? I only have finished series' like Love Hina, Trigun, Hellsing etc. Got a good deal on them too Smile

Does anyone else here fall in and out with this stuff?

[EDIT: Please read the rules if you haven't already. And also, please don't make such vague titles. Other than that, welcome. -TK]

Well, I absolutely loathe commercial TV, particularly reality programs, excepting the various UFC material (I fight and teach martial arts).

Anime suits me: I get everything from tear-jerking romance to hot-ass anime action chicks. I get subject matter that is violent, amoral, sexual, and thoughtful such as Texhnolyze.

Other than the occasional action movie produced by Ho$$ywood, most movies deemed popular make my stomach churn. What's left? My anime...and I love it.

At first I was (and still am) a "hot-ass anime action chick otaku," but I've diversified greatly over the last several years while using ANN's Encyclopedia. Heck, I watched High School Girls and spent many hours annoying my wife with the various cutesy gestures.

IMO, watch as much as you can from as many themes as you can--you'll be surprised at some of the gems you'll find.

I second that, it is great advice.

Yeah, the fact that I've never stuck to just one or two genres is probably a big part of the reason why my enthusiasm for anime is stronger than ever even after several years.

And ironwarrior is right - widely sampling through genres allows me to regularly get surprised by coming across great titles where I wouldn't expect them.

I know I wasn't really that much into anime until I came over here and finally realized the power of anime. I'd be watching it on and off over in Japan, and never really had a series that I really liked, but now that I've gotten into it, I don't think I'll be out for a while.

Well, about 3 years ago, my interest in anime pretty much died out while I was still awaiting the releases of DBGT VHSs. Then, around a month ago, last summer, I was recommended Fullmetal Alchemist, and I've been into anime ever since. Lately, I haven't been able to watch that much anime, but that's not due to my lack of interest, but moreso with the fact that I'm swamped with tons of homework, and I have to run Cross Country every day. I save my anime-watching for Saturdays when I'm free, and on Sundays when I'm not doing homework or watching football. I'm sure that as the year goes on, I'll be able to manage my time more efficiently and be able to squeeze in an anime episode here or there during the week.

Anime is really in and out with me.

I'm one of those people whose either spending three days straight doing nothing but watching anime or spending 2 weeks without watching a single anime.

I've been taking it easy on anime for a while. But, part of that is there isn't an anime I really want to watch right now.

I don't so much lose interest, as I just can't find an anime that is new or old that interests me on occasion. So then I go into slumps where I won't watch anime for about a month or 2 so new animes will be released in that time. Like others mentioned before me, I found it important to have a wide variety of tastes in anime. I enjoyed Love Hina just as much as I did GANTZ or almost as much as Full Metal Panic!

I used to like just about every anime series I watched, but after seeing Cardcaptor Sakura and Infinite Ryvius, I slowly drifted away from the shounen-action and fan-servicey romance genres and went towards series with more character interaction. The only action series I watch nowadays are Chrono Crusade and Fullmetal Alchemist.

yea the same thing happens to me i go into slumps about 1-2 months long where i don't have anything i want to watch or i am in the middle of something that is not particularly interesting.
I normally get out of it by talking to friends about new stuff to watch or just checking top 10 worst 5 sticky
but then this is opposed by my anime binges where i will go through 2-5 series in a week or two, usually over summer or winter break

Oh yeah, I think pretty much everyone fades out and doesn't watch any anime for a awhile every so often. It's no biggie, really- simple burnout. Sooner or later a new series pops up that refreshes your pallet, so to speak, and gets you into it again, or you rekindle the love for an old series after taking a breather.

As for me, I tend to fade into videogames as I fade out of anime viewing, then switch back later. Just how I roll, I guess...

Well, actually the fact that I am viewing different genres of anime helps me in not losing my interest in anime. I am constantly in search of new titles especially because as soon as I am finishing an anime I want a new one ready for me. I don't really care what genre are as long as they have a good story line, the characters are good and have some depth.
And when I don't watch anime, I read manga so my interest is constantly kept alive.
