I always seem to forget how popular Comiket is, so every time numbers come out for it, I’m astounded *____* It was brutally hot this year, hotter than in recent years it felt like, so I’m stoked that didn’t seem to deter anyone!
I was kind of appalled that they made us all sit out in an unpaved under-construction lot, though. It's tough enough sitting on the asphalt, but you couldn't even sit on the ground without gravel and sharp rocks digging into you. Hopefully they get that fixed :/

And, as always, the Internet's Most Trusted Anime News Source barely had any coverage until nearly a week later.

More than half million people to buy fan and professionally produced comics is something else. Some towns would kill to have so many visitors in their area.
There are so many key animation dojinshi produced by industry pros which I want to buy, but I don't want to go through expensive middleman and competitions.
I've seen Comiket pictures outside of the convention site on Twitter and they don't look all that crowded. Maybe it's different time of the day..

Define 'not all that crowded' o_O There are thousands of people who line up in the blazing sun outside the center, a steady stream to get in, and the east halls alone (there are also the west halls) are the size of 2 football fields each--so multiply that by 6. All that space was so full of people at all points in the day that you were walking right behind the person in front of you.
If the pictures you saw didn't demonstrate that, those were really uninformative pictures.

Wow, that's quite a lot of people! It's hard for me personally to imagine an event with couple hundred thousand people at once.
I'd like to finally try and go to Japan next year for winter Comiket. I handle cold a lot better than heat.
