Shit...never underestimate the power of fangirls. Should be interesting to see just how many places it falls next week though.

Good news to hear. Especially as it reminds me volume 14 came out this month. Not a fangirl, but I'm off to order Fruits Basket.

Definitely good news. I was wondering, what's the highest rank a manga has ever reached on the Booklist? 30 is pretty high up there.

It's not just fangirls....I'm 28 and I bought it on the first day. There are quite definitely mature women (and even men!) who adore delightful, emotionally captivating series. Razz

That fits me. Male, in my 30's, and I love to read this story that often gets more complicated than people give it credit for. I can definitely see where it would make a top 30 list.

Do sales before the street date count? I saw Fruits Basket 14 for sale at a Borders store one week before its street date.

This is some acheivement especially among the plethora of books up there including The Da Vinci Code and the Harry Potter series. Now if only Borders would send a good coupon so I can go and buy Fruits Basket 14.

As was the case with late February, August must be a fairly doldrum month for book sales in general, so niche book genres can score much higher on the general Booklist rankings than they otherwise usually would.

People, it was a joke aimed at that cabal of girls who will claw your eyes out if you say something bad about Kyo or Yuki or whichever character they have their yaoi fantasies with. I'm aware that there are males who read the series; I'm one of them (though admittingly on and off).

As I told Laura Bailey at AX, I'm a 37 year-old guy and I tear up over the end of episode 25 of the anime.

Question: How many more volumes are there left of the manga?

Don't make yourself the only one Laughing The entire Japanese series and the fanbook. Though you probably have those too.
