Quote: | When questioned about the release of the next volume of Yotsuba@!, [David] Williams replied that it is tentatively scheduled for the first quarter of 2007. |
That's certainly good news that they still plan on continuing to distribute Yotsuba@!, but I wonder if anyone asked about the status of the Aria manga; i.e. if ADV still plan on distributing it, or will they sell the licesnce to someone else. It's too bad that I wasn't able to attend Otakon this year because this would be a topic I would definitely ask Mr. Williams about, especially given that a certain ANN user (who shall remain nameless) was vehemetly critical about ADV's handling of the manga market, so much to the point of calling for ADV's demise.

I was wondering when they would release the next volume of Yotsuba&! It was quite a shock for me since I waited months for the fourth volume and it never came to the shelves. First quarter 2007 is quite a long time but I suppose I can be patient.

I'm more interested in the status of Gunslinger Girl. I'd love to hear them say that they were going to continue it.

Someone at Otakon snapped a picture of a Haruhi poster, in english, with a "Come see our panel!" On it, for ADV.
Just ADV joking around or what?

The date and time for the panel listed in the picture corresponded to Kadokawa Shoten's panel, not ADV's.
The business card in the picture you're referring to covered up the KS logo.
Somebody was just tryin to stir up teh intarwebb.

It was mentioned already at AX that the license for Aria (and its preceding series Aqua) have both gone to Tokyopop. Aqua will be released over the course of 2007 and the new edition of Aria comes out 2008.

Awesome. Just this pretty much makes it a must buy for me.

They own The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. (i.e., they publish the novels, and so handle the rights to the property.)

The same. And it's going to be a December release. A merry Christmas, indeed .
This may sound silly; but I hope Jessica Boone voices Rebecca. She's [Rebecca] the same age and possibly same I.Q. as Chiyo; and her voice nearly matches Chiwa Saito's (the original seiyuu).

I saw a screening of Pani Poni Dash at Anime Iowa over the weekend, and thought the show was hilarious. I can't wait to get the DVDs and I'm glad to see it'll be getting the vid-notes, I loved those on Abenobashi.

Um, FUNimation has Gunslinger Girl, not ADV.
As to ADV's announcements, nothing of interest to me so I'll be moving along.

I'm talking about the manga. ADV released the first three volumes (over about 2 years) and then stopped.

I'd love some Gunslinger Girl news too. Even if they were to relinquish it to another company like what happenned with Aria and Peacemaker Kurogane being re-licensed by Tokyopop.

ADV had one of their manga reps in the audience for the second panel. Once he was pointed out and Greenfield and Williams reffered manga questions to him, he quickly slipped out, to conviently work at their anime booth or something. I was kind of hoping that someone could have locked all the doors and like tie him to his chair to get answers
