With Razer airing Basilisk & Trinity Blood on TV before the USA (there was that 4-ep compilation of TB in theatres in the states, but meh), I finally get the chance to hear the dubs for these series. Here are my opinions of the series so far after watching the first 3 eps of both series dubbed. Of course, this is done by memory, & my memory isn't too great at times, so I might not describe too much. Sad Also, this is only in my own opinion. Just so you know. =\

Basilisk: I'm watching it for the first time, & have decided to watch both the subbed & dubbed versions to compare. Honestly, I don't have much of a problem with the dub. The voices seem to fit, give or take a couple lines here & there. The One thing so far that I didn't like was Hotarubi's scream in episode 3 when she was spoiler[repeatedly stabbing Shogen to death.] That kinda grated on my nerves (& ears). =\

Trinity Blood: I've already watched TB subbed in its entirety back in the Fall, & being one of my personal favourite series, my hopes for a good dub were higher than usual (I have very low standards when it comes to dubbing, which allows me to tolerate bad dubbing, even 4Kids' anime). The dub was also pretty good. Abel's cheery voice in ep 1 was a bit too cheerful & seemed a little ligh-pitched, but the VA nailed his voice down during the serious moments. Tres' voice sounded a little too deep for my liking, but it was bearable.

My main gripe, however, was Esther. Since Esther was pretty timid & kinda soft in the beginning of the series, you would expect her voice to sound a little high. However, Her voice was a notch too deep, making her seem less fragile than she is. The voice would otherwise seem fine if you haven't watched the Japanese version, but if you have, then you might be disappointed. (Although, This might be slightly biased, since Esther is my fave character in TB, & Mamiko Noto, Esther's Japanese VA, is my fave VA. Anime hyper)

That's pretty much it. Are there any others who've seen the dubs of these 2 series? What are your opinions?

Well, this may be a little too soon for those of us not in Canada, I think Razor is only available in Canada, and those of us not close to a theatre that aired Trinity Blood.

I´ll get back to you on the Basilisk dub when the DVD comes out August 8th. I don´t plan on picking up Trinity Blood, so that´ll have to wait until it airs on Cartoon Network.

If all you have to complain about Basilisk is a scream, it makes me look forward to its release even more.

That is correct, for those of us south of the border (From Canada that is) we are not yet able to see those series yet.

I'm really looking forward to see how this dub turns out, I also enjoyed this series. I can't wait for September when vol 1 is suppose to be release, I already have the artbox (Which looks beautiful, I hope it's the Speed Grapher) preorder so I am very excited to see how TB turns out.
Till next time,

The thread was also intended for anybody not living in Canada to speak about the series & such.

While I thought it was good, you might think differently later on, so don't get your hopes too high. Razz
