I'm not sure which forum this belonged in, if any, but I just saw an advertisement for the Sci Fi Channel series Who Wants to be a Superhero? In the ad, Stan Lee is on a video screen talking to the people trying out for the series. Each person takes a moment to tell who they are, what their powers are, and a little about themselves. Who should be in the ad, but every anime fan's favorite cross-dressing cosplayer Man-Faye!

Has anyone else seen this? What do you think of the idea of Man-Faye as a Superhero?

Man-Faye can't qualify-- Stan Lee is looking for superheroes. What super powers does Faye Valentine have? As great as she is, she's still a regular animated human being.

I haven't seen the commercial for this, but my sister has. She says the hosts of the show ask him, "What the hell is your superpower?!" and he says, "I shake my butt!" and does his infamous booty-dance. I'm exited, and I really, really want to see this show. Even if he doesn't win, Man Faye is still my hero.

I'll have to watch this just to see Man Faye Confused Laughing I did see the commercials when I watched Sci-Fi's new show Eureka (which is a very good show BTW and since I like it, it will probably be cancelled), but I had taped it so I zapped past all of the commercials. Rolling Eyes I'll have to go back and take a look.

I'm far from religious, but Man-Faye is an abomination before God. He should not be encouraged.

No offense to the guy, but it is because of him and Sailor Bubba that I get teased for likeing anime all the time. I am all for Cosplay and supporting your hobby, but I think both of them take it just a bit too far. That is just my 2 Cents! I do not intend to start a debate here.( It has happend before elswere).

Read this before passing judgment. He's truly a warrior for equal rights, and I admire him.

Hardly. He stands up for his rights. He never once stood up for "equal rights" until he got his butt thrown out of AX. The guy's just an attention whore and it's his fault that a lot of the cosplay community and anime word is looked at weird in the states.

Equal rights for what? Grossing out?

(spoiler barred for your safety, due to useage of graphic words)

spoiler[Look, I admire the guy for being THAT bold in his cosplay, but then again, there has to be a limit to what is acceptable and what should be considered an arrestable offense. The disputed fact his hotpants has been (allegedly) the cause of an unfortunate "peeky/flash" of his scrotum is not what I consider to be "fighting for rights."

But I'll admit this much: He is right that there is a bias in cosplay. I mean, what gives the right to girls to glue several cotton balls onto their tits and cunt and call that a "Sexy Jutsu" cosplay? Or fat women cosplaying thin characters? For god sakes, the creators created them thin for a damn reason, and thats because most of the 18-34 year old market likes thin girls!!

or i'm just misinterpriting his stance somewhat because the image of his hairy backside is warping my fragile little mind.

No your not wrong, there is a bias towards certain cosplayer. Although there was a define change (according to people I talked to) saying that females had to cover up a lot more finally. And yes it is wrong when females cover themself with cotton balls and call it a day for the outfit.
Till next time,

Example #1 (for lack of a better "worksafe" picture).

1. Go to Wal-Mart Sewing Department.
2. Buy batting used to make blankets/quilts/etc.
3. Cut to fit.
4. SEXY JUTSU COSPLAY!!

I mean, seriously, thats not effort, thats just being damn lazy.

Man-Faye is a pathetic attention whore who only fights for HIS rights and thinks grossing people out is cool. He claims to be fighting for equal rights, but the truth is, he's just mad because he got thrown out of AX. He couldn't care less if women aren't being taken seriously in the workplace or whatever. He only cares about himself because he thinks he's of high status. The fact that he has the balls to go on television shows that he desperately needs attention and is full of himself. He should be ashamed. Plus, he's stealing Sunrise's character. You think Stan Lee knows that Faye Valentine is a copyrighted character? No, he probably thinks she's a made-up idea by him, and as such, will probably want to make comic books or something featuring Faye, all the while being clueless to the existence of Cowboy Bebop. Man-Faye should've been arrested at AX; the only reason he was allowed to go in with the coat is because the cops felt bad for the big fat ugly girl in the crowd with her cell phone who thought Man-Faye was hot. If it were me, I would've thrown his sorry ass in the slammer a long time ago and posted a hefty bail that no one can afford.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but Man-Faye can claim Parody as a legal defense.

Eh, maybe I'm just biased because I think he's hilariously funny. He kind of reminds me of Hard Gay, one of my recent favorite comedians.

He is an actual anime aficionado. Why do people disassociate him from the fandom just because he's a fat (although he has lost a lot of weight recently), hairy man runs around in hot pants and gives random people lap dances? He is a fan, he just expresses (exposes) himself differently (indecently).

Oh please! You're just upset because you feel he's making a mockery of "your precious, uber-cool little hobby'' of anime. Get off your high horse and stop taking anime fandom so seriously.
