Between people who only like physical titles and those that hate Nintendo's eShop, they will NOT succeed in making sure that there will be "as many people as possible to be able to enjoy the game for as long as possible". They could've gone with BOTH, but it's Capcom. What else is new with their awesome decision making??

By not allowing people to have a physical copy they are all but ensuring they will be limited to any possible enjoyment of the game, not expanded. But like poster above said, its capcom, poots on newts and capcom too.

I like how despite flat out saying it's a money issue of there not being enough fans for the series here to justify retail shelf life , people still blame this on Capcom and not the fanbase.

Um, okay. Of course, Apollo Justice and that Edgeworth game could been bombs for all I know, but I haven't read anything to indicate that they sold badly. The original trilogy—where Phoenix is the defense attorney, as he is (in at least some of the cases) in this game—obviously did very well in North America. |

They've had reprints on several of the titles too, which were constantly selling. I believe that Apollo and Edgeworth did create a drop off. People have also been mentioning how Phoenix Wright was a REALLY popular series to pirate, as well, which didn't help those titles either. Maybe a factor between that and the new characters? I haven't played any of them yet, but I take it that the last two weren't as popular among fans of the series? Would have been NICE if they took a chance on this one, with 3DS doing very well and titles like Fire Emblem selling out, but no. I hate the whole thing with big companies and their "if it doesn't sell a million copies, we're dropping the franchise in the west"... |

The Edgeworth game had different game mechanics, and despite his popularity, I'm not sure how many fans in the U.S. wanted to play as him. And Apollo Justice had a major change in its cast, so that likely put off a number of people from buying it. But the original trilogy is obviously a different beast in terms of sales and fan reception. |

While I have no problem buying digital media, including video games. My problem with buying eShop games is that instead of being tied to an account that you can move between devices, game downloads are tied to a single device. Which just strikes me as problematic as time moves forward.

A digital-only release is only limiting to people that are stubborn. Most people that really want the title will get it anyway. I didn't bat an eyelid at the reveal the the title would be released exclusively on the eShop.

The first 3 might have done fine for them, but if the series dropped in popularity in the west then practices will obviously change to accomindate. 4 was the best selling game in the franchise in Japan but it did much worse in the US than the others. As did the spinoff in the west to the point of not bringing over the second one. Meanwhile, the first game sold the best in the west and the series has been declining ever since. |

The game still retains the tradition of only voicing the 'Objection, Hold It, Take That' for characters, right?

It was hard enough for Capcom of America to even get the go ahead to get this localized. Just be happy we're even getting it at all.
I'd love a physical copy, yeah, but I'm pretty much used to niche titles going digital only nowadays, especially from bigger devs, so this doesn't surprise me in the least. |

I'm actually wondering if they could do the series episodically. Like maybe have a "season" and release the cases over a year or so. |

Uh, it was confirmed for localization around the same time it was first announced for Japan. It's not like this is AAI2 we're talking about here... |
