With ANN being down last month, I found some time to check the list of possible duplicates I had noticed. And believe me, there are quite a lot of them !
I took the opportunity to compile all previous reports of duplicate companies, with thanks to all contributors who send in these reports (and also those who re-posted them later) Anyway, here's a list of duplicate companies starting with 'A' : (correct entry/entries are marked in bold) *A.D.C. Group and ADC Group Source : the ADC Group website *ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN 2 Source : the same website is given here as proof Provided by areaseven in this post *Hot Storm and Adult Source Media Source : ASM 's "About Us" page, provided with pleasure by Doc-watson42 *ADV Films (DT) and ADV-Films (DT). Proof : ADV Films Germany website *ADV Films and ADV-Films. Proof : ADV Films website. The only entry in A.D. Vision is Newtype USA, which is a movie magazine, published by ADV Films, so I suggest merging this entry too. *AIX Media and AIX Media Group. Proof : the AIX Media Group website *Akita Publishing Co., Ltd., Akita Shoten, Akita Shoten Co. and Akita Shoten Publishing Co., Ltd. Proof : the link on "Akita Shoten" points to Akita Publishing Co., Ltd.; the third entry is obvious; officially, the copyright is to "Akita Publishing Co., Ltd" but I would prefer the last entry. *Albin Michel and Albin Mihel (typo) Source : the Albin Michel website *America Television and America TV Noticed by msi435 Source : quite obvious, together with the official site *Ani Village and AniVillage Source : the Ani Village website Notification and source of information provided by cat_clan *Animax (Brasil) and Animax Brazil. Source : The link to the official website is the same in both entries *Animax Asia and Animax-asia. This one is obvious. Apart from this, a lot of other "animax" subcompanies also exist. Is it useful to leave country subcompanies (Animax Brasil, Animax india,...) as separate entries ? pinoyfreestyler requested before to merge Animax Asia with Animax-asia (Hong Kong), Animax South Asia and Animax India I suggest to keep Animax (Brasil) and Animax Latin America for respectively the Portuguese and Spanish language. *Animax Latin America and Animax Latino America Thanks to sailornyanko for noticing this. *Aniplex, SME Visual Works, SME Visual Works Inc., SPE Visual, SPE Visual Works, Sony Music Enterainment (Japan) Inc. , Sony Music Entertainment and Sony Pictures Entertainment Source : an old post with an extensive explanation on the company history by chris keck and the company website of aniplex *Aoba Shuppan and Aoba Suppan. The first entry is empty but correct. The only result of a Google "suppan" search is the ANN entry, so I think this is a typo. *Arait Multimedia and Arait Multimedia (spain) Source : Officially, it should be Arait Multimedia S.A., but Arait Multimedia is OK Noticed and given proof by kgw *Asastu (typo) and Asatsu Noticed by msi435 *Asmik Ace Entertainment, Inc, Asmik-Ace Entertainment and ASMIK. Proof : the official website *Atelier Booka, Atelier Bouka and Atelier Buuka This is again a uu/ou/oo translation problem. I don't know which is the best choice. *Atomic and Atomic Club Source : the Atomic Club webpage *Audiomaster 3000 Mexico, Audiomaster 3000 S.A. de C.V. México and Audiomaster 3000, Mexico Provided by areaseven in this post The correct entry should be Audiomaster 3000, or eventually Audiomaster 3000 S.A. de C.V.. The closes match is then Audiomaster 3000 Mexico, although in this case, I would agree with cat_clan to create a new entry. Source : a previous duplicate post by cat_clan (Thanks !!) *August and August Entertainment. Proof (tentative) : an August Entertainmentwebsite. Thanks to doc-watson42 for providing proof in another post *AXN Asia and AXN-Asia. Noticed by msi435 Proof : the website. Note that the address has a dash, but the names on the site not. The following are probably duplicates, too, but I couldn't find which one of the separate entries is the correct one, or sometimes I'm lacking proof if these are duplicates: *AMG Studio and AMGStudio (typo) Noticed by msi435 *AMGA Co., Ltd and AMGA *Animaze and Animaze..iNC Provided by areaseven in this post Remark by EmperorBrandon that the official name is probably Animaze..iNC (see this post) *Anime House and Animehouse Has anyone more information on Anime-House, because this is not animation, but distribution. It might be a duplicate, though. *Anime R and Anime-R. *Anime World Osaka and Animeworld Osaka. *Arvintel Communications, Inc., Arvintel Media Productions and Arvitel Media Productions (incorrectly spelled) Provided by areaseven in this post *Ashi Productions and Ashi Productions CO., LTD. *Abaco Creative Studio, Adaco Creative Studio, AVACO Creative Studios and Avaco Studio Reported by areaseven *avex mode, Avex Records, Avex Trax and Avex, Inc. Provided by areaseven in this post According to Dormcat's post, not all of them are duplicates *Azubata Production (typo ?) and Azuhata Production Noticed before by msi435 in a previous post If anybody has proof for it, please let me know. ADV Films is the video label of "parent company" A.D. Vision—see the corporate profile. Note that "ADV Films" was apparently "born" around July 1996, and that all anime released prior to that date were under the "A.D. Vision" label (except for SoftCel, which was started around June 1994). It seems to me that, if anything, ADV Films should be merged with A.D. Vision, and a redirect placed at ADV Films to A.D. Vision.
For the record, "shoten" means "bookshop" in Japanese. |

I agree that this would be the best solution, but it's quite strange to have two similar companies, one called 'A.D. Vision', and the other one 'ADV Films (DT)' (which is the German site for ADV). That's why I proposed to have also the names similar ('ADV Films' and 'ADV Films (DT')). But now I'm doubting again |

Here are some more 'B'-duplicates :
(correct entry/entries are marked in bold) *Bandai Co., Ltd. and Bandai of Japan (empty) Source : the Bandai website First reported by areaseven *Bandai Entertainment and Bandai Entertainment, INC. Source : the Bandai Entertainment website *Bandai Visual and Bandai Visual Corporation, Inc. The correct name is Bandai Visual co., ltd., as published on their website, so I would prefer the incomplete Bandai Visual over the wrong "Inc." name. *Beez Entertainment and Beez Source : the Beez website *Bessatsu Friend, Betsu Friend KC and Betsufure Source : the Wikipedia page *Bessatsu Sho-Comi, Betsu Sho-Comi, Betsu-Comi and Betsucomi Source : the Betsucomi website *Big Comic and Big Comics Source : the Big Comic website *Big Comic Sperior (typo) and Big Comic Superior Source : the website *Big Comics Spirit and Weekly Big Comic Spirits Source : the "spirit" website *Blues Interactions, Inc. and Blues Interactions, Inc, (typo) Noticed by Samurai CDZ *Bonnier Carlsen and BonnierCarlsen Source : their website *Blu and BLU Manga Source : The correct name on their website (in Terms of Service) is BLUManga. Keep the last one. *Blue Water and Blue Water Studios Source : their website *BS-Japan and BS Japan Thanks, et516 for noticing me Source : the BS Japan website *Buena Vista Home Entertainment, Buena Vista Home Entertainment / Disney, Buena Vista Home Entertainment/Disney (empty entry) and Disney / Buena Vista Home Entertainment (also empty) Source : the Australian BVHE website. The US BVHE site also works, but you have to register before you can enter. *Buyu and Buyuu Source : Do you need proof for those "double letters" entries The following are probably duplicates, too, but I couldn't find proof for it : *Beijing Sharaku Art Co., Ltd., Beijing Xie Art Co., Ltd and Beijing Xie Le Art Co., Ltd. *Blink Digital and Blink Digital, Santa Monica *Border Line and Borderline *Brains Base and Brains-Base Noticed by darkchibi07 If anybody has proof for it, your help is greatly appreciated. Here are my 'C'-duplicates :
(correct entry/entries are marked in bold) *C.I.T.I. and CITI Source : the CITI website *Canal 6 Cabavision (typo) and Canal 6 Cubavision *Canal + and Canal+ Source : the Canal+ website *Canale 5 and Channel 5 Source : the Canale 5 homepage; the only entry for Channel 5 is the Groizer X Tv series, which was broadcasted by Canale 5. *Adult Swim and Cartoon Network Source : a previous post by areaseven with the fact that Adult Swim is just a broadcasting period on Cartoon Network *Cartoon Network L.A, Cartoon Network L.A., Cartoon Network LA, Cartoon Network Latin America and cartoonnetworkla.com Source : the Cartoon Network website *Cartoon Network (Brazil), Cartoon Network Brasil and Cartoon Network L.A. (Brasil) Source : there's no real source, but just the geographical indicator (Portuguese in stead of the usual Spanish in L.A.). Therefor, I would prefer the last entry *CBC, CBC TV, Chubu Broadcasting and Chubu-Nippon Broadcasting Co., Ltd Source : the CBC website *Chiba Television and Chiba TV Source : the Chiba TV website *Chuang Yi, Chuang Yi Publishing Pte Ltd. and Chuangyi Comics (Singapore) Source : the Chuang Yu website *Cineclub and Cineclub (VHS) Source : a dutch adress site for Cineclub *Columbia - TriStar and Columbia Tristar I would prefer the first, as Tristar is in fact a subsidiary of Columbia Pictures (see the Wikipedia explanation) *Comic BomBom, Comic Bon Bon and Comic BonBon Source : the Kodansha site *Continental Far East Corp. and Continental Far East Inc. Source : the Continental Far East website *Coop. Eddy Cortese and Cooperativa Eddy Cortese Notified by Asuka Langley. Source : the DiviDoppi website (in Italian) *Critical Mass and Critical Mass Video Source : the Critical Mass Video website mentions critial mass video, although this ANN entry is empty The following are probably duplicates, too, but I couldn't find proof for it, or the correct name is doubtful (suggestions in bold, your input very welcome): *C.D.I., C.D.I. Production and CDI *Cbaudio (DVD Dub) (empty) and Cbaudio (DVD Version) *CBS Sony, CBS Sony Group Inc. and CBS/Sony Inc. *Champion RED and Champion RED Comics *CTV Studios and CTV Studios Cardiff Last edited by woelfie on Mon Jun 26, 2006 6:11 am; edited 7 times in total |

Perfectionism is certainly one of my bad habits.
But in this case, it might turn out well. That is, for ANN |

And here are the entries for 'D' :
(correct entry/entries are marked in bold) *Daichi Doga and Daichi Douga Source : it's just an o/ou melange *Daiso Production, Daisou Production, Daizo Productions and Daizou Pro Source : another o/ou mix-up *Daiwon C.I., Daiwon C.I Inc. and Daiwon C.I. Inc. Noticed by quincyarcher Source : the official name on the Daiwon website is Daiwon CI, but they also use Daiwon C.I. (see logo on top left). However, on the Daiwon C&A homepage (mother company), they refer to themselves as "Daiwon C.I. Inc". *Daume and Daume, Inc. Source : thislink *De Laurentiis Entertainment Group and De Laurentis Entertainment Group (typo) *Decca Records and Decca Records (PolyGram Japan) Source : Wikipedia site on Polygram company history and Decca Records *DENEB Film and DENEB FILM - Milano Source : according to this website the addition Milano is just a geographical indicator, so we can as well leave it out. Besides, for the "Milano" entry, there are only 2 anime entered, which shows that most anime show just "Deneb Film". *Dentsū Eigasha (the old name of TEC), Dentsu Inc. (the official name), DENTSU TEC (subsidiary) and Dentsuu Source : the Dentsu website *Design Office Meccaman (typo) and Design office MECHAMAN *Dragon Comics, Dragon Magazine, Comic Dragon, Monthly Comic Dragon, Monthly Dragon Magazine and Gekkan Comic Dragon Source : Wikipedia *Dragon Jr., Dragon Junior, Comic Dragon Jr., Monthly Comic Dragon Jr. and Monthly Dragon Jr. Source : Wikipedia *Comic Dragon AGE and Monthly Dragon Age I'm putting this here, because according to Wikipedia, it's a duplicate of Dragon Junior. Does anybody know more about this ? *Dybex, Dynamic (wrong entry of old company name), Dynamic Vision (typo of old company name) and Dynamic Visions (old company name) Source : the Dybex website (in french) Also the companies Dynamic Germany, Dynamic Iberia (for Spain and Portugal), Dynamic Italia and Dynit (other name for Dynamic Italia) are only local distribution affiliates and belong to Dybex. The following are probably duplicates, too, but I couldn't find proof for the correct name (suggestions in bold): If anybody has proof for it, please let me know. *D-COLOR'S and D-COLORS *Delta Peak and Delta Peak Production *Doume , Doumu, Domu and Domusha Noticed by wao *Dragon Production and Dragon Production Co., Ltd. And also Dragon Production & Studio Nue (Studio Nue is entered as separate company, too, so this one can be merged) *Dream Force and Dream Force Co., Ltd. (correct entry/entries are marked in bold) *E-M-S and e-m-s The DVD-Company Source : the E-M-S website *Egmont, Egmont Manga & Anime, EMA and EMA (Egmont Manga & Anime) Noticed by smutchi Source : the Egmont website *Editions Kabuto and Kabuto (short name) Source : the Kabuto website *Editorial Ivéa (typo, empty), Editorial Ivréa, and Ivréa Source : the Ivrea website The duplicate of the last two was already noticed by Sarki-Kun *Editions Star Comics and Star Comics Source : the correct name should be Edizioni Star Comics, so I think it's better to stay with Star Comics than the wrong Editions Star Comics *Elastic Media Corperation (typo) and Elastic Media Corporation *ETC TV and ETC...TV Source : a Wikipedia entry *Eyes and Eyes Comics Source : this Wikipedia list (is this a reliable source ?) Please post proof for the following duplicates or the correct name if you can find any proof, 'cause I can't find it. *E & G Film, E&G Film, E&G Films, E.G. Films and EG Film Updated by doc-watson42 *E & M Planning Center and E&M Planning Center *Easy Film, Easyfilm and Eazy Film *Echo, Echo Animation Studio, Echo Film, Echo Films and Echo Productions Last edited by woelfie on Tue Jun 20, 2006 3:07 pm; edited 3 times in total |

I'm getting a bit ahead here, but...
J.V.D. and JVD. Proof: the company Web site. Also: woelfie—if you're up to it—how about compiling the already reported duplicates for A–E, and editing them into your posts? Lastly, I suspect that this is the August Entertainment ("new movies from asia") for which you are looking, though I can't prove it. |

Let's start with the letter 'F' :
(correct entry/entries are marked in bold) *FanBoy and Fanboy Entertainment Source : according to their website, the correct name is Fanboy Entertainment Inc. *Fanfare and Fanfare / Ponent Mon Source : Fanfare is only credited as co-publisher for Ponent Mon, which has a separate entry. The credits for the combined company "Fanfare / Ponent Mon" is empty. *Film France Production and Film France Productions Source : the Planete Jeuness website (in French) credites the tasks to Film France Productions. No site (apart from ANN) has the entry without 's'. *Five Ways and Five Ways (ファイブエイズ) Source : the Five Ways website *Fiz Sound Creation and Fizz Sound Creation Source : a Japanese Wikipedia website *Flower Comics and Flower Comics (Shogakukan) Source : the English Shogakukan subsite * Fox Kids Nederlands (typo) and Fox Kids Netherlands And these two lack proof which name is correct (although it's quite obvious they're duplicates) : *F A I, F.A.I, F.A.I. International, F.A.I. Seoul, FAI and FAI International (part of this was already reported by areaseven) *Forward and Forward (Warner Music Japan) *Fujimi Fantasia Books and Fujimi Fantasia Comics Last edited by woelfie on Mon Jul 24, 2006 6:58 am; edited 3 times in total |
