Of course MTV assumes that Sailor Moon is popular because of her sexy costumes. They probably think she wows the bad guys with her minskirts until their hard-ons are so painful, they retreat... or something.
They should stick to what they're NOT good at - music.

This is the first I've heard of a possible live-action movie adaption of Sailor Moon.

Far be it for me to try on the tinfoil hat, but it is kind of odd that MTV would act like a Sailor Moon movie is clearly on the way. Either A) somebody is just misinformed or B) somebody is stirring the pot with the "fans have begun lobbying hard" stuff.

Quote: | One thing that is true: Lohan currently sports a glaring ankle wrap, as she nurses a wound that resulted from a recent slip in the shower. "It's so me to do that," she said, "because while I was filming ['Just My Luck'], I sprained my right ankle on the set, and now it's my left one, and [the right one] still hasn't healed. |
hmmm. maybe she might work to play Usagi, she aparently has the face fault part down

My first thought is - What fans? Lohan's fans might be lobbying for her to get some sort of work - period. I am one Sailor Moon fan that would stop collecting Sailor Moon stuff if she gets involved. This gives the term "Jumping the Shark" new meaning. I cannot believe there is not some talented unknown actress out there that could do justice to a role without all the baggage of Lohan.

Ok this doesn't make much sense. She took the rolls in Chapter 27 and Bobby to try and get out of the whole teen movie craze and show that she could also be an adult actor. So now she's stepping back into it? My guess is she might have looked but probably isn't won't be interested if those movies do well.

Ditto.
I don't like the idea of Lindsay Lohan starring in a US "Sailor Moon" movie so I'm just going to say that I she doesn't have nice enough legs to play Sailor Moon.

Ugh, I hate the way MTV made that sound so matter-of-fact.

Yeah, how in the world did MTV hear about it? I wonder what their thoughts are on anime itself, too. So she has an unofficial script, which means the whole thing isn't entirely dead yet.

I don't know if I like the idea of there being an american live-action movie based on Sailor Moon...period. Almost always, without fail, when someone in america makes a live-action movie that's based on a (quote-unquote) 'cartoon', it's awlful and completely disrespectful to the original work. Scooby-Doo, Josie and the Pussycats, the Flintstones (PARTICULARLY that horrible 'Viva Rock Vegas' sequel)...you get the feeling that people never watched the original show (or in the case of Scooby-Doo, possibly hated it). Added to the fact that Sailor Moon would probably be aimed at young girls and made 'hipper'...no. I don't even want to think about it. And I'm not even that big of a Sailor Moon fan.
As for Lohan being Sailor Moon...well...I'd prefer her to Hiliary Duff.

Wow, everyone is assuming the worst just because it's Lindsay Lohan, I can understand but let's not jump to conclusions. What's wrong with her going for the Sailor Moon part? She isn't my top pick but I'd still go see the movie. If done by the right people the movie could still capture the anime's charm. And have most people here seen Lindsay act or are they just assuming just because she's a popular teen actress that she's just another talentless Paris Hilton? She acted great in Mean Girls and pretty good in the other movies I've seen her do and I'm sure she could pull it off. Despite what people on the board say she still is actually popular, just watch Teen Choice Awards and MTV awards and billboard charts. Just trying to defend Lohan here. I also wouldn't mind if tehy altered Sailro Moon just a bit to appeal to today's audience like clothes, music, more "hip" material. I just want them to keep the same personalities with at most a tiny bit of tweaking.
I think MTV's views on anime are pretty good they advertise some Anime merchandise on their site, I just think they were trying to get a description of sailor moon that would catch non anime's fan's attention even though it was a "pretty stereotypical of anime" one.

I already know for a fact that certain Key MTV people read ANN

This whole affair smells of bizarre. Something is rotten in this, but I don't know what.

Well that certainly seems like a paradox, seeing as I avoid MTV like the plague Of course, I'm only one person and I really don't like the way pop culture is right now.
