Apparently there are plans for the original Go Lion and Dairugger XV to be released as well next year.

Monday, I was pointed to a site with opening and ending clips from all kinds of old shows, along with old ads and stuff, and ran across Voltron. This brought back all kinds of fond memories of the first anime I watched, as far as I can remember, although back then, I didn't know what anime was, I just knew this show was cool. Hell, I even HAD Crying or Very sad the toys, and a sleeping bag with Voltron on it.

So I then went looking for DVD information, either of Voltron, or the source show(s). At which point there was nothing. Then I ran across the voltron.com V-Day countdown. The flash started with three quotes from forum members. The first was vague, but the second and third were explicitly about DVDs. I was excited. Then the news comes out today. I am SO HAPPY right now. YAY!!!

Personally, I'm greatly enthused, but if this were ADV we were talking about we'd be getting Go Lion and Dairugger XV uncut with a dub.

Bless you anyways, Media Blasters. You guys rock! Very Happy

Wow, looks like MB's the new ADV when it comes to old-school. If anyone from that company's listening, can you bribe Lion's Gate to get the rights to the Japanese Speed Racer? Wink

Bitchin'! Remastered Voltron AND a subtitled Golion release??? I've died and gone to heaven.

Hopefully the "remastered" video will actually look good and not full of grain, unlike the Macross release (grainy grainy grainy)... But enough complaints, I'm just glad it's finally coming out.

Score another one for Media Blasters. They've been the heroes for not only picking up lost licenses (like Iria and Giant Robo), but also picking up awesome old-school titles (Voltron and Tekkaman)...

Look forward to picking this up, as well as the Golion release.

AHHA!!! I've been curious if this was going to be available in retail stores. God, I've been waiting for this for like forever and now we're getting it. But, Media Blasters? Nooo ... I wonder if there is going to be a new dub track for this release. At least we're getting this direct to DVD ...

But 15 episodes per set over eight sets? Are they padding this for the extra money or what? Laughing

What wonderful and exciting news! Very Happy I haven't been this excited over a release since ADV announced the release of the uncut Sailor Moon episodes back in 2003. Voltron was a staple program in my childhood and one one of the best shows I've seen in that time, maybe ever. What's really great about this is not only do the older anime fans that grew up watching this marvelous program have the opportunity to own this series, but the younger, school-based anime fans that were either too young to remember or weren't born when this series aired in syndication in 1984 can witness what truly is a classic in anime history.

I'm in the same boat as well. This made my wallet scream just thinking about it. A set of DVD's for my childhood, and another set of DVD's for me to see it in its original form. This makes me really happy. Smile

According to the Encyclopedia, there are only 52 (or 72) episodes of the first Voltron series, and yet 8*15=120? Is somebody miscounting here??

But at any rate, great news...I'm old (enough), and remeber seeing Voltron on TV back in the late 80s, so this should have nostalgia value, perhaps as one of the last "Super Combining Robots" series before other series like Evangelion came along and redefined the mecha genre. Then again, I'm a little fuzzy on my anime history from the late 80s-early 90s Embarassed Embarassed

I think I've died and gone to anime heaven! We're getting BOTH Voltron AND GoLion on DVD within the next 12 months, can't wait. I'll be buying both sets when I have the cash. Or maybe I'll ask for one DVD of each for Christmas AND my birthday. Twisted Evil God bless you Media Blasters!

Hmm.... I read over the news blurbs, so just to make it clear, it looks like Voltron comes first, starting in Sept. then next year (2007) we'll start to get GoLion. Makes sense to me. Get people excited, build up the fanbase, then release the uncut subtitled version (which makes sense since the story was completely re-written for Voltron) - maybe include trailers for GoLion on the first Voltron sets.

Voltron AND Golion AND Dairugger? As I said in the other Voltron thread, I didn't think it was possible, but am VERY glad it's happening. Media Blasters, you ROCK.
