One Piece "Heading For Disaster" Edit List
(Original Title: "So Long, Drum Island! I'm Heading Out to Sea!")

1) The recap in the edit was inexplicably added (35 seconds added).

2) A shot of Kureha watching Drum is removed (3 seconds).

3) The episode title is placed over the shot of Chopper watching the pink snow while it zooms out. In the original, it didn't appear until the image was fully zoomed out.

4) In the edit, Ussop specifies the drink he offers to Chopper as root beer. It wasn't named in the original.

5) Luffy asking Chopper to have some "nose chopsticks" is cut out (4 seconds).

6) Nami: "Way to go, Joe!"

I'm sorry, that was just really stupid.

7) Chopper: "Yeah, we animals talk the talk, not just squak the squak."

I wonder if there's a requirement for the script writers to have a set amount of awkward rhymes in an episode.

8) In the original, Chopper didn't want to accept Nami's compliments. In the edit he talks about wanting to dance.

9) Nami originally asked Luffy why they invited him if they didn't know he was a doctor. Luffy says it's because he has seven transformations and he's a cool reindeer, and then Sanji says he's an emergency food supply. In the edit, Nami says Chopper helped heal her, and then Luffy says "they can't eat him now".

10) Long cut of the day. After Nami says "I bet I know who did" (which made the scene really obvious and kind of ruined it), Chopper's eyes begin to water, and we flash back to Chopper running down the rope and looking at Kureha. When it goes back, Nami tells Chopper that Kureha is a great woman, and then it shows the Merry Go sailing away from the island (51 seconds).

11) After Nami complains about not being able to get any sleep, she asks Chopper if he agrees, and then it shows Chopper trying out the "nose chopsticks" (4 seconds).

12) A shot of the Going Merry flag is removed (3 seconds).

13) A shot of Hiriluk's flag waving is also removed after the commercial break (4 seconds).

14) Another long cut (but shorter than the last). This shot was originally longer, with Dalton and Kureha talking. Dalton says that Chopper has the heart of all great doctors, and Kureha starts talking about the cherry blossoms, and that Chopper was acting like Hiriluk (17 seconds).

15) Kureha: "Well, you know what I think, Dalton? That plan stinks."

Do they have to make her a bitch in every line?

16) Text saying "Mariejois, Holy Land" is removed at the start of Dalton's flashback.

17) Dalton thinking to himself about whether or not Drum Kingdom is fine, and how the drift between the king and the people is growing wider, is cut (11 seconds).

18) King Nebra was originally King Cobra (I guess 4Kids can only handle one Cobra...).

19) Wapol saying that Dragon's ideologies aren't relevant to his country, and that if they want to catch him they should do it themselves is cut (10 seconds).

20) Wapol hitting Vivi is cut (2 seconds).

21) The bruise on Vivi's forehead is digitally erased.

22) On Luffy's wanted poster, the words "Dead or Alive" and "Marine" are erased as usual.

23) Trace >< Ah well, at least his voice is good (for reference, his original name was Ace).

24) Totally random digital edit of the day - Ace's reaction is frozen so that he doesn't react to the store owner yelling at him. Right.

25) Dalton: "So what's up, Doc?"

Please tell me that wasn't intentional.

26) "The Will of D" is changed to "The Spirit of Gol D." Why? Who knows.

27) Some yellow marks to indicate that Luffy isn't on deck anymore after he gets taken up by the seagull are... well, guess.

28) Name changes!

Ms. Double Finger -> Ms. New Years Eve (same thing pretty much)

Ms. Golden Week -> Ms. April Fools Day (Spring Break would have worked better)

Ms. Merry Christmas -> Ms. Groundhogs Day (um, what?)

29) "Golden" is erased off of Goldenweek's shirt. At least it makes sense...

30) Guns are bad, so Mr. 5 doesn't carry any ammo.

31) A short shot of Mr. 5 throwing a bomb in Little Garden is snipped (2 seconds).

32) This is kind of weird. A shot of Mr. 11 is cut, and then a flashback of Sanji seeing the Unluckies (5 seconds).

33) So uh, a flashback of the Unluckies is added in... k (plus 5 seconds).

34) A shot of Chopper and Ussop looking worried is added in before the commercial break (3 seconds).

35) Vivi talking about how Crocodile had fooled everyone is added in after the commercial break (plus 12 seconds).

36) Ussop: "You haven't made sense in years!"

Ussop hasn't known Luffy for years, so uh...

37) The blood on Bon Clay's navigator is removed.

38) Bon Clay's hand is moved further up his navigator's face to avoid him being... choked. Um, whatever.

39) Bon Clay beating his navigator some more is cut (6 seconds).

40) The katakana is erased off of Bon Clay's coat.

41) Crocodile: "What kind of *CROC* is this?"

You know 4Kids, puns don't have to be emphasized... Just a suggestion.

Yeah, they did go over that episode with a fine toothed mallet. So I did hear right, they changed Portugas D. Ace's name? Why? Ace is a perfectly good, American name. It wouldn't have scared the stupid kiddies with it's evil foreignness.

Well, at least they did give him an interesting voice. So far. I've learned to be wary of their VAs though, because one second they sound fairly close to accurate, and then they do that "he he he heeee" thing Luffy does all the time in the American version and it ruins everything.

About Ace, I know. It's like they're saying "You want the Ace? You want the Ace? YOU. CAN'T. HANDLE THE ACE."

Way to put my edit lists to shame Yashouzoid. All professionally done with evidence and whatnot.

*Cam Goes into Clint Eastwood mode*

You think your better than me? Huh? You think your better than me. I'll kill ya punk.

But yea that whole changing names around to suit an american audience was stupid.

Your edit 20 and 21 is kinda peculiar because in the one Naruto episode before last they also edited when one of the guard people hit the one girl it was shortened so you only saw her fall to the ground. I guess they have a problem with hitting women in anime. I mean in Tiny Toons the girls recieved plent of damage. ITs discrimination i tell ya.

Your 28 I would believe is changed because when you think of the finger you think of the whole flicking someone off aspect of it. However the whole Christmas to Groundhog day may have been unnecessarily changed because of the religous tie to Christmas.

Yea this was a chopjob right here but can you go back and distinguish which episodes recieved which edits so as not to confuse anyone.

I don't think it has so much to do with the girl being hit as much as it was that she was a minor.

If you hold up two fingers, it resembles 1/1, which is New Years.

I don't see anything to be offended about by Christmas.

Oh, and one thing I thought was odd:

Vivi: "May they rest in peace."

It's funny because Vivi didn't even talk about Ms. Monday, Igaram, or Mr. 9 dying in the original. 4Kids added a death reference.

Oh, and the random name changes piss me off.

Just so that you can see that not everyone is cool with Christmas and some have good reason not to be.

Arrighty:

Economic reasons - basically they don't want to offend poor people. But why? The Strawhats have a good amount of treasure, so I doubt that's an issue.

Environmental reasons - ...I don't see how this is a factor, sorry.

Social reasons - it's not like Ms. Merry Christmas hands out toys that say "Made in China" on them.

Religious reasons - only real sensible explanation, but I don't buy it. Christmas is a widely recognized holiday across the globe, religion or not.

The edit list is great, as usual. I wish you'd fix up your website, though (or perhaps I have an old URL?)

I'm planning to begin hosting them soon.

Did they change Ms. Merry Christmas's tie at all? I don't have a clear memory on it, but I seem to remember it being a Christmas tree.

Speaking of showing, I wonder what they'll change Whitebeard's flag/Ace's back tattoo to? Trace is the man!

Yes the evil breasts of death must be removed so small boys don't see the wondurus joys of teats and such. The malicious yellow lines obviously represent the leftover efforts of the German Nazis where they try to corrupt the minds of children so that they will steal money out of thier parents drawers and buy the German inspired Hershey Bars. Of course Dead or Alive means nothing to fo-kids if the word dead is theres so snip snip. Certaintly don't want to corrupt children with thoughts of capitalism so Golden must be removed before everyone wants to become the next Bill Gates devil incarnate. And what kind of Americans would we be if we didn't remove the Japanese writing from a shirt because of course every single American kid between the ages 6-12 can fluently read Japanese symbols let alone their own literature.

Man 4kids has to have some of the most retarded editors I have ever seen.

They edited her cleavage? That's weird, they didn't do that to Robin back in Whiskey Peak. And that's an impressive edit list you made there.
