Man, I know that One Piece's popularity in Japan but its difference with Evangelion is mindblowing. I mean, the manga may not be Evangelion's primary media (or maybe it is considering it started at the same time with the manga) but I thought it would have bigger sales considering it's Sadamoto behind this and the release of the new movies.
I guess maybe Evangelion is more popular when it comes to the anime or the movies. |

2,188,559 after 10 days seemed quite 'low' for One Piece standards so I verified with my own eyes and that's more than 200 000 less than the previous volume at the exact same time after release (3rd of August to 12th of August vs 2nd of november to 11th of november) : animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-08-15/japanese-comic-ranking-august-6-12.
Of course, the numbers remain huge, but maybe it has peaked now ? Maybe the upcoming movie will give it a new boost like in 2009. |

One piece scorin' big ain't really news to me anymore.
I AM happy to see railgun(since I have enjoyed its manga vs anime), Nichijou, bunbougami ga and Magi on the list even if they're in the lower portion. |

I think the observation is correct. It has peaked and it is time for Oda to start looking to wrapping things up. |

I wouldn't go that far.
Plus, it's also important to look at sales in the long run (after 3 or 4 months) to see if the decrease in the amount of buyers in the first few days isn't in the end compensated by better sales during the following months. I do have a hard time imagining how this one will crack 3 million by the release of the next volume though, but who knows... When the next volume is released we'll see where this one stands compared to 67's 3,031,881 units. |
