Is Kekkaishi volume 34 an omnibus though? I thought it was a regular size volume.

No, you're right. ANN made a mistake.
Anyway, I eventually want to get Naruto Shippuden and Digimon.

New Video is also releasing Digimon in single DVDs as well as a complete box set? I wonder how many episodes are on the singles?

There are singles for the Digimon release. Check RightStuf, they have the complete set and the 1st single on there.
