Isn't this a bit too much press for a simple commercial? It will likely turn into an actual series.

Shonen Sunday has had a tradition of really high quality anime ads for manga for a number of years now - it does indeed seem that most of them later got a full on anime adaptation, although not all and not necessarily immediately after the commercial came out.
They're all really good, it's worth looking around for them on the usual streaming sites. Some notables that had an SS commercial before they had a show are Zatch Bell, Project Arms, and Inu-Yasha (the first one that is, where he wears pink!) - ones that did not I can think of are Devil&Devil, Karakuri Circus, Rin-Ne, and...there was another relatively new one I forget the title of, from this year or last, which I believe hasn't been adapted yet. These are from all over the place though, Rin-Ne was of course not that long ago, but the former two were in the 90's. Sometimes they do directly correspond with an anime adaptation coming out, sometimes not...in the case of Zettai Karen Children in particular, the TV show was announced before the Shonen Sunday ad, but who knows what'll happen. |
