So far I'm at episode #44, and from what I can tell, they could have easily re-named this anime Sasuke and nobody would have noticed. Does this anime actually grow to focus on it's main character or is it basically 'The Sasuke Show'?
Also, Ochimaru (assuming I'm spelling that right) unsealed Naruto's fox tail powers in the Forest of Death, right? When do you see that?
I'm just wondering if I should give this up for Bleach or not because I find Sasuke kind of annoying and would just assume not watch any more if they keep treating him like the main character.

Naruto does get back his show..I would say after episode 50, and I would say he remains the central charater for awhile. Sasuke seeming like a main character, can be what makes this show edgy as if a main challenge of our hero seems to be fighting just to prove himself and be the star. Patience has rewards (and avoid spoilers!!)

Actually in a way it's a gag in the previews. Naruto is constantly saying wait a minute! I'm the main character! or something around those lines. I'm pretty sure you're at the Chuunin Exam. Anyway after episode 50 the focus switches back to Naruto where he begins his training with Jiraya. From that point on the focus stays on Naruto for the most part. I think why they focus on Sasuke up to that point is so that the viewer in a way gets a sense of what Naruto goes through. Everyone always paying attention to Sasuke and not to him. So when he "takes his show back" so to speak it packs a bigger punch than if Naruto was center-stage all the time up until then.

Orochimaru sealed Naruto's fox even more so that the power would never come out, like it does against Haku.
After about ep 50, the show focuses on naruto and the people around him, not the people around him first and naruto second.

Naruto has a great ensemble cast (especially by the end of the chuunin exams), but it does focus on Naruto. He's definitely the star, although he's rarely the favorite character among fans.

Well, yes, it does go back to Naruto later. I think what the show mostly tries to do is focus on a large number of characters, giving them each their own little story. Naruto is just a character that connects them all together, and has a great impact on all their lives. While I find Naruto himself annoying at times, he attaches us to everyone else and changes the lives of everyone around him.
Yes, the show could be called Sasuke, but later on it would have to take a different route...but it could also be interesting that way. Since it focuses on so many different characters it's hard to give so much time to a single one.
I personally don't think Naruto was a good name choice for the show...it would be liked renaming Bleach "Ichigo". There are so many characters the show touches on, but the show is named after a single character.

Meh, name choice. Naruto is basically nothing but fight after fight after fight after fight, the title is basically a homage to the overall theme of the series, which is a shounen action series (In other words, about 12 year old boys duking it out).
Imagine Lord of the rings giving the actual Lord of the rings the most screentime, should be a hilarious sight.

This is the same way i feel about Inu Yasha. I mean the way i see it, the story revolves more around Naraku than Inu Yasha.

Really? Hmm, yes, Naraku is kinda the nexus around which all the characters and plot points converge, but he takes very little part in the story himself. He's rarely on screen for long, and in the recent manga chapters, he showed up for the first time for like, 40 chapters.... I think it's really Inu-Yasha's story, just kind of from Kagome's point of view.
But about Naruto, yeah, Kishimoto really likes to flesh out his side characters as well. Which I personally don't mind, but I could see why you might think Sasuke is focused on too much. Don't worry, later it becomes Naruto's story again, and there is actually a point at which Sasuke seems to "disappear" for a while...

Ha! I'm on episode 35 and I noticed the same thing.

Ha! I was wondering the same thing!!! I thought he released it too. Good thing I came here and read this post or I would have been left confused. Interesting that it's sealed even more.

You find Sasuke kind of annoying? Why? I think he's pretty awesome and quite a strong fighter. I'm excited to find out how much stronger he will get. Besides, he really is quite handsome. You gotta give him that! I also think that without him, Naruto wouldn't be able to grow as he fast as he has. Sasuke really causes Naruto to awaken hidden powers.

I don't remember if they said anything like it in the anime, but in the manga, the guy that uses the shadow-puppeteer techinique (I don't recall his name or his technique name at the moment) says something like "He's the kind of guy who couldn't even star in his own manga."
To be honest, the less they focus on Naruto himself, the better (at least pre-time skip, since I don't know what he's like after that). I really don't like his personality. I'm hoping he will mature at some point.

He does. At least in my opinion. I'm glad he did too. I like Naruto but sometimes he can be a little annoying. Thankfully he begins to mature once Jiraya shows up.

Don't worry, it doesn't last long. That's actually Orochimaru's super in the game, which is great because it does a ton of damage and prevents your character from building chakra from like thirty seconds.

Yeah, I kinda wish that the series DID revolve more around Sasuke than it does at later points. Within the rest of that arc though you see why Naruto forms the nucleus of this story.

He does a little, but not much. The thing is, He really impresses everyone over the chunnin exam over how hard working and headstrong he is, that he doesn't let any obstacle stand in his way, and will achieve his goals regardless of the odds. Naruto always sees Sasuke as being impossibly far ahead of himself, but gradually, while they see him as a bit of a screw-up in some ways, most of Naruto's peers also look up to him as a great moral leader (if not a great tactical leader).

I've already seen that as I've seen up to 160 (and have decided to stop watching until the filler ends). I don't think he matured at all and he is still just as annoying after that.
