to be blunt at this point who really cares.... I predict the R1 anime market will crash again in 2-3 years time and there will be none left to pick up the mess.

It almost sounds like you are wishing for the R1 anime market to crash and burn. Let us hope that Sentai, FUNi and the other R1 distributors have a sound plan to sustain the market.

Personally, I don't mind if the companies drop. I find the them more inferior to how they used to work. Seriously? Funimation has never once touched ecchi anime back when singles were out. If companies can't stay around without having to resort to relaying on money men are willing to fork out for ecchi, fan service, and moe animes...they should just stop. Hell, media Blasters only sticks around because of the money they get off the hentai they have.

Yes, I will bloody blame the men for how the anime market is. Many have pointed out that it's 70% males that mostly buy anime. Can they not have better taste in other animes that isn't ecchi, fan service in them, moe girls, or sex involved in it? Damn, that ecchi anime is so damn sexist towards women, it's why I hate it so damn much.

I've been waiting for you to pull the sexist card after complaining about the fanservice so much, and I wasn't disappointed. This'll be good.

Fun fact: Fantasies of men making out with eachother is just as sexist as the fanservice anime you hate. Don't be a hypocrite. Everyone likes different things, and theres no need to lash out at people just because they like anime you don't.

Well, Vata Raven, why don't you go through the shows that you think should be licensed and released to disc media? The caveat, they can't be yaoi, shounen-ai, or distinctly bishounen titles. Include a short "why" so it doesn't come out like you're just listing.

They also had Moonphase well before this "kerfuffle" existed. Witchblade and Burst Angel as well.

It's been said so many times before, these are the titles that pay for the lucky few that are considered by many, to be the "better" titles. For every Kids on the slope, there's easily 7 or 8 of these Moe, incest, big breasts shows that pay and keep these companies afloat and protifable.

I by no means a fan of the Moe, incest, little brother wants to do little sister shows, but I do respect and support Sentai, Funi, DiscoTek and the other R1 companies because they all put alot of time, money and effort into these projects to bring us, the fans a great product we all love and enjoy.

Bingo. I've always been frustrated by the hypocrisy of those who feel the need to trash fan service anime and their fans while giving their own fantasies a free pass. The yaoi genre is buried in all sorts of misandry, unfair and unrealistic expectations of men, and in many cases, a lot of creepy condonement of sexual assault. I'm not going to hold that against the folks who enjoy it though. I know most of them are mature enough to know the difference between fantasy and reality. Let's all give each other a little respect, shall we?

Raven, I'm not going to trash talk you for having mostly half-naked men on your deviantart page, so try to return the same kind of respect to the rest of us.

No I really don't in all honesty and I've got my theories proven slightly correct that sentai/crunchy roll are working together. I just go on tangents when I'm drunk for the lulz.

Hate to tell you, you're lucky if they even kiss. But at least when it comes to BL animes or animes with the undertones/overtones. They're not doing what they're doing to the female characters in those ecchi and fan service animes that are for men. They're not disrespecting the male characters like they are with female characters. THEY'RE 10 times worse!!

Shirtless men or good looking men in animes for girls/women, not really fan service, that's just how most are in the mangas and crap like that, they figure that's what they want to see, instead of male characters like Ichigo. Just men are all over the idea of women clothing tearing off in a fight, that's a hell of a lot worse, tears tearing off so they have an excuse to draw nipples...there was no reason for the shirt to come off in the first place.

Oh, lets us compare how much worse ecchi anime is to my BL anime. About the worse you can tell me is Sensitive Pornography, and that still has a romance plot around it. That's about as worse as they get over into the US. And lets see what other have been brought over No.6....they kiss 2 times. Loveless, yet another 13+ one. Gakuen Heaven is 13+. Gravitation, a yaoi aime that has been votes best romance animes that have been brought over to the states. Fake, Earthian, I Shall Never Return, Kizuna, Sukisho, and a few others. They're not throwing out these male characters out to the pack of wolves by having their clothes ripped off and having as much of their body be shown for the male viewer.

I stand my ground by saying the fan service anime for men are sexist. They degrade women in those shows, it's just sick. If that's how you want to see women, I have no more respect for the males in the anime community.

But when a show just features a small gaggle of cute girls, but they're not being sexually objectified other than having cute faces to look upon, that's still the same thing to you as far as you're concerned?

The only shows you're describing are Ikki Tousen, Qwaser, Highschool DxD, and Queen's Blade.

No one ever argued that ecchi anime aren't sexist (...not in this thread, at least). The complaint was that Sentai, Funimation, etc are licensing fanservice anime (and...you're angry because they like to license things that make them lots of money?). It's not as if, if Sentai hadn't licensed Nakaimo (in some alternate reality, with the only differing factor from this one being that Sentai didn't license Nakaimo), they would have licensed Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi instead. Licensing doesn't work like that.

And it's really unfair to blame the general population of male anime fans. They buy what they want to watch. It doesn't mean that those fans are misogynist. Why do you have more of a right to the shows you want than they do?

The truth is, fanservice sells. Sentai and Funimation can use that money to take risks and license other things, like Kids on the Slope and No. 6, if they have money from selling To Love Ru and Sekirei. The existence of fanservice does not preclude the existence of everything else.

Translation: When men are shown half-naked, that's just how they draw those things, but when women are drawn half-naked, it's deliberate and hateful mysogyny.

Please remove your fan girl blinders. I understand if you think fan service directed at straight males is gross, but anime & manga has plenty of the same sort of pandering to female fans. You can dislike it without resorting to misdirected moral indignation.

That's ironic, because many of your posts about fanservice and ecchi seem sexist as well.
