Because people tend to become not-so-nice-people when they (think) they have made it to the big leagues and look down on others.

Additionally some series it's that way from the start, usually the protagonist was brought on board to be exploited until the party couldn't exploit them anymore.

Usually for comedy, also the flip of the protagonist wanting to leave, frequently because of low self-esteem or similar reason, and it's the party consistently having to prevent them from leaving.

To add to the above, it's also usually a fairly obviously allegory for underapreciated salaried workers. Usually after they leave the party crumbles and everyone begrudgingly admits it was the MC that was making everything work in the background, while the hero/party leader aka the boss flails around in raging impotence and the MC actually takes off and becomes OP, that all plays into the power fantasy.

In other words, they know their audience.

And then once that person eventually leaves, the party can no longer function but they keep on refusing to admit that it is because the person left and they made a mistake.

Not really among my favorite tsuihou/expelled or volontary departure type fantasy but why not, i'm still reading it.
I'm surprise it's already announced as 2 cours and that it's adapting the manga and not the LN.

This series is originally a novel, not manga. They should update the article.

This is the first time we’ve heard this series is getting anime and all of a sudden we’re told it’s airing soon and getting 2 cours straight.

The plot in the novel and manga have diverged so much, so I wonder if it will follow the novel or manga?

If only these authors knew how to world build and explore deeper themes than wish fulfillment. These uninspired vague European settings with not so subtle Dragon Quest inspirations are counterintuitive to the escapism aspect.

The cynic in me: All these left party / fired from party variants could be renamed: "So its easier to run a harem with no other eligible competing males". Or "My ego is so fragile I need the world to confirm that I was the only useful person in the story"

And yet I still like a few of these shows, fired from the heroes party in particular for its romance and finding place.

Well, at least he left the party of his own accord...but he still gets a Harem out of it.

Surprised this is getting a 2-cour.

"Yeah well, I'm gonna go build my own adventurers party! With blackjack and hookers! In fact, forget the party!"
