Lithiania is even far away in my opinion.
I'm getting to know the people on this forum better, but it's still difficult. The introduction thread doesn't have an index, for example. Only 25% of the ANN population is female... it still surprises me. Anyway, welcome to the newcomers. And a Dutch fish as well! Though it hasn't posted a lot yet. |

I'm sorry. The i is next to the u on the keyboard  . Does Lithuania have a meaning in your language?
But I meant: Lithuania is far away. For people in America it's a longer trip, but Netherlands-Lithuania is still a long distance. The word index has more meanings, but I meant it as a search tool. If the front page of this thread had a list of links to introductions from frequent users of this forum, it would be easier to find information of a user. (to everyone: I'm not actually proposing this, I was just explaining that I had difficulties remembering every user's basic info. I think I'll just put the link of my introduction on my profile tomorrow, so people can see mine... it they actually want to) And my English isn't perfect either. I am glad I can understand most things and watch anime with English subtitles. If anything I write is totally wrong, just correct me

I would like one too. I sometimes want to see if a user has an entry in this thread when one makes me curious, but it can be very frustrating trying to do so. Sometimes I have a tricky time just finding myself to make edits on the vain presumption that anybody ever reads it. An index would be very convenient. It would, unfortunately, probably be very hard to do that as there are a lot of entries and many entries are from users who are now inactive, including a few who never posted more than an introduction. I wish that somebody would take the Herculean task on, but it's a daunting prospect.
I had expected a less skewed ratio too, although this poll suggests that the forum user base is slightly, just slightly, less skewed. I wonder if the female users might be relatively more active or contribute more content, which might make them seem more numerous. Of course, Anyway, welcome to the newcomers. Native speaker to the rescue! The only thing that seem ungrammatical about A Mystery's sentence is far; it should probably be, "Lithuania is is even further away." The, "my opinion," feels a little awkward and that construction is usually used rhetorically out of defensiveness or indignity, but it's grammatical. To express her meaning, I think, "I think (that) Lithuania is even farther way." The that is optional; I'm a weirdo, so I use it, but it might sound stilted to some people and the distinction of farther versus further is largely moribund. Some people would probably also be comfortable with, "more far away," rather than, "further away," but I'm old school, so I prefer the synthetic construction. |
