Based on what I've seen of the anime (the first 7 or so episodes) of Suzuka, it seems like an odd choice for a 'Mature' line. Is it any worse than, say, Love Hina or Ichigo 100%?

Yeah, I agree these don't seem like that mature of titles.

I don't know anything abou Suzuka, but Basilisk has some pretty violent sexual scenes...

I've only read a few chapters, but the Suzuka manga is far more mature than the anime... There is a little nudity in it, and i'll assume there's quite a bit of sexual themes and stuff going on too...

14$... eesh
They'd better make it top quality and win me over by publishing some non-Kodansha stuff too

I applad this move. Three cheers for uncencorship.

I've never heard of either series, but Suzuka looks fun... Not so happy about the 40% price increase though. I'll wait till it's got a few volumes out and bulk buy it on-line.

Too bad that their mature line just seems to consist of titles with graphuc content and not things nessisarily aimed at older audiences...

After the little "Negima" debacle and the enormous outcry against CMX's editing of "Tenjho Tenge", it makes sense that Del Rey is covering their butts like this. Sure, the titles may not actually be "mature", but at least they won't be touched.

Ehh, $14? I assume that's in USD, which'll most likely be more expensive for me, since I live in Canada.

I haven't watched Basilisk, but I am watching Suzuka (watched the most recent ep a while ago), and I enjoy it. At least the manga is finally liscenced. Very Happy

I'll probably just wait until the whole series is out (I believe that the manga is short), but it seems like Del Rey releases their manga every 3 months, and I don't like waiting that long. Razz

I also live in Canada, 14 dollars American is pretty high for me... if you were to convert the money with todays standards it's not much more (12.67 for their normal priced 10.95 manga), however, at least from Chapters it's closer to 16 dollars because all these companies are happy keeping things over priced. So, their new "mature" manga would be 19 dollars or so (when they should only be 16)... way too much for one manga. 16 dollars is my limit unless it's something special like Earthian where it's almost two manga in one ... this is the whole reason I avoid Dark Horse.

Every three months isn't bad... I mean, look at Tokyopop... four month! I've forgot what I'm waiting for Rolling Eyes

I waited over a year for the last volume of Plannet Ladder to come out, so no complaining. :p

Suzuka doesn't catch my interest, but Basilisk looks somewhat interesting. ....Exactly why is it mature-rated, though?

I'll probably never buy any $14 priced manga. I won't even pay more than $7 for $10 priced manga. I might have been interested in the Suzuka manga, but at that price, I won't even give it a chance.

At least this prevents any frivilous lawsuits from hitting Del Rey, although enlarging the adult manga seems a bit counterintuitive, don't you think?

I would guess the enlarging comes from Del Rey being a traditional book publisher. There is intended to be an implication of quality in a title published in trade paperback format instead of mass market. For example, Del Rey's Impact line of "classic" science fiction and fantasy titles are published in trade paper, whereas most Del Rey titles are mass market, or hardcover first, than mass market.
