I liked Samurai Deeper Kyo but it could have been a lot better if they didn´t use so many still images for the fight scenes. If the fight scenes were more animated, like on Samurai Champloo, it would be my most favorite Samurai Anime series.

Yes, spoiler[like beating a poor puppy to death. Seriously, that part made me almost cry. Certainly a very strong point that made me sypithize with Lucy's hatred for mankind.] Something that I think would have made a series better is spoiler[the ending of] Mai Hime. spoiler[While I did like the ending, some of the parts didn't really make any sense. And the happy part with the picnic I wish they would have taken out of the series and put in an OVA or something. I don't think it really felt in place as being part of the series.] Other than that I absolutely loved Mai Hime. |

I don't mind filler in moderation, as long as it works on character development and stuff. As long as their is actual plot stuff in there sometime, I'm happy (for example, I enjoy Sailor Moon, though they could do with less filler, because when they get down to the plot, they do it well).
If a series has a large cast, work really needs to be done to establish each character as a character. X did this very well, I think, though some characters could still have used a bit more...but others are somewhat lacking, like in Fushigi Yuugi, where it is joked that Mitsukake's cat has more character than he does For Wolf's Rain, killing the OVA rather takes out the best part of the series, IMO, but I think it might be nice to NOT have four recap episodes. |

The OAV productions have their own merits (that is, Tsuikoku-hen, with Seisouhen stinking like week-old, unwashed socks), with the music being my favorite. The character designs took some getting used to, but it added a darker and more realistic tone, in my opinion. Although, it would've been nice to see Studio Gallop animate both Tsuioku-hen and the Jinchuu for continuity purposes. It's a shame those writers made the giant piece of trash known as season three.. |

Then it would have been like every other high school anime out there with a weak story. Eva is good for what it is, but I think the ending is too open ended (even though I prefer the TV ending's to the movie's). |

I'll go with .hack//DUSK aka Legend of the Twilight Bracelet. It would've been MUCH BETTER simply if they used a more mature animation style such as SIGN or even LIMINATILTY used. I'm sorry but it looked way too childish. It almost got to the point where I wanted to grab Shugo, Rena, Marie, and Reki and just beat the daylights out of them if it was possible . How can they "finish" the series on such a note?? I mean I know the characters were younger than the other .hack// series, but do I need highed-pitched whining and pupils I could disappear into from almost every character?
EDIT: If you have a difference of opinion I'd like to hear it. Also, in the image the eyes are actually smaller than the show. Last edited by The Frankman on Tue Nov 29, 2005 2:49 pm; edited 1 time in total |

I'm from a culture that going out, and marrying your cousin is totaly okay. Its not considered as sick at all, not even a bit here... so i gusse as others say, its not a let down, since you can't cope with the fact, just consider them as childhood friends. actually , in elfen lied, if kouta didn't spoiler[ kiss lucy who killed a crap load of people, including his own family, it would be less wierd. for god's sake. it would be better that kouta had killed her as promised. (he promised her in the bus back from zoo that he'll kill her if she was to kill a lot of people ) ]
well, the dialog and characters are childish too, i say, it would be better if the serries was more serious, and also kite didn't stare at his sister's body this much ... |

For Gunparade March. I think if they would of placed in more episodes that dealt more into the war it would of been a better then what it is. I love the show for the romantic comedy involved but it really didn't say much about the background war story that I wish the was more of. They had 12 episodes on the romantic stuff and some of the war...if they were to have just done 6 or more episodes just on the war and political items I would've been even more happy with the show. And maybe they could've thrown in some more character development for the secondary characters like the trainers, they got like 10 mins of showtime through out the series and really you don't know anything about them except for there both quiet and they are trainers(I couldn't even tell you there names because you don't get to know them much). Other then that I thought the show was good for a romance but it diffenetly could've used the elements I just said to make it better.

The problem with a lot shows like Noir and Scrapped Princess should be 13 episodes rather then 26 episodes. They basically are diluted with a lot of filler and weakened as a series. Wolf's Rain should have had one flashback episode. I would have either cut out or finished the Black Ki storyline in Twelve Kingdoms, probably cut out because it had little to do with Youko.
Basically, I'm for shortening and tightening up. Example of a near perfect series is Haibane Renmei or an OVA like Macross O. All the Best, Nani? |

Actually, Dormcat is wrong for once - the only developed country which forbids first-cousin marriage is the USA, and even then only in 24 out of the 50 states. |

I dissagree with this, there's still the question of pacing and character development. How can you actually know a character if nothing but bizarre and impossible situations rise that are impossible to gauge how a normal person would react to. I think it's nice of characters are thrown into ordinairy situations where we can actually learn more about them, rather than seeing another million plot twists and heavy action scenes. When I'm talking about filler, I'm talking about characters going out of character to be put in situations that just not suit them at all. A guy who can destroys mountains and who conveniently suddenly has a problem with one guy and his plain old sword would be an example of that (Naruto). |

Just so you know, dormcat is developing a race of super-human cyborgs to take over the world. It may not be a good idea to oppose him. Neither of you have any sort of proof though so I can't take either side. |

We all fear that day will soon be upon us.
Isn't It forbidden in Canada as well, as far as I know it's considered wrong to marry any relative. |

Allow me to refer you to this post, where I've already dealt with this. PantsGoblin is right, and dormcat is wrong. Most developed nations allow marriage between first cousins. To my knowledge, no European countries have laws against first cousin marriage, nor do Canada or Mexico. 26 of the member states of the U.S.A, for a variety of reasons, do not permit first cousin marriage. So far as I know, there is no federal law in the U.S. on the subject. - abunai Bracing for the arrival of a vengeful clone army. Good thing I've got my own lifeguard of inbred banjoplaying hillbilly wookiees. Last edited by abunai on Tue Nov 29, 2005 4:36 pm; edited 1 time in total |

good point. but maybe it should have been longer. that would solve the open ended-ness. i heard the reason they did that rushed ending was because of a lack in budget. oh yea, and .hack//twilight should have been more like the manga. |
