Isn't that nice. I wonder what the fix could be besides pressing new copies since I doubt the PSP has a system in place for patches.

I wonder what the reviews have been for the game. I know it plays like a roguelike, but thats about it.

Even if I come to a standstill on a difficult road / The sky is always waiting for me in a beautiful blue / So I'm not scared / By now, no matter what happens, I won't get disheartened.

Doesn't look like it:

So we just shouldn't play Sayaka('s route) for now. Not a Problem.

Some of them seem rather surprised that they were promised a fix instead of just getting an apology.

I'm just glad i haven't imported this game yet.

I have noticed the game is quite buggy, but luckily I haven't anything game breaking yet. It does suck considering how expensive the game was that they let it out in such a state.

And yet again I am reminded of that episode of The World God Only Knows...

But considering it apparently occurs during Sayaka's route and the anime's writer has admitted to bullying her...wonder if it was intentional? xD

There's the PSN, and I know there are sometimes downloadable patches on the main sites for games, too. It would be just as easy to patch as a PS3 game, though it'll add to the install data memory card data space...
I don't exactly understand what your second comment is about, but if you're talking about gameplay, it's mostly Visual Novel-like, with some added gameplay to spice it up a bit. However, don't take it lightly just because it lacks an extensive gameplay system. As I've figured out while playing it, it's quite the story.

What is buggy about it? The only minor thing I've noticed (so far) is the occasional times when it repeats a tutorial explanation screen, but I barely even notice that.
I do have the actual disk to the game (as opposed to every other friend I have who downloaded the game... ugh...), so maybe that has something to do with my luck. I'll have to watch out for Sayaka's route, though, since I heard the bug is there...

I left out the word "reviews" in my post so that's why it didn't make much sense.

I was talking about gameplay - so besides having the gameplay of a rogulike (mechanics based on an old computer game called Rogue) it has VN elements to it. Good to know the story is good too since it's suppose to be an original story, right?

The soul-gem from the right hand corner disappeared half-way through the Mami route. I've also had sound and graphic glitches randomly. I can only say what I've experienced, but I have found it quite buggy. This the actual UMD version as well, so you can't attribute it to piracy shenanigans.

That makes sense. Even so, I've never played "Rogue," but the action gameplay is basically like this:

You are on a grid fit to the terrain, but in first person PoV. Your attacks can affect a certain amount of grid squares in front of you and your opponent's attacks can, too. It's turn-based, but your turn consists of either taking one step in any direction, attacking, or switching characters (I think using items, too?). Some attacks charge for a turn before firing and can be cut off by enemy attacks sometimes. You can also miss attacks or get critical hits, as can your opponents. But as soon as it is the enemy's turn, all the enemies move, attack, or whatever. Some can even move/attack twice in a turn.
You have HP, which will give you a game over if you die. You have MP, which you use for many of your attacks. You also have a Soul Gem icon that fills up with a black meter as it slowly auto-recovers any HP or MP you lost. If it gets completely black, the only thing that happens is that you can't use any MP-usage attacks (even if your MP is full) and your attacks are weaker than they usually are... Not to mention, you don't recover anything anymore. That's the gist of the gameplay. As for the story's canon and impact on the franchise...

spoiler[It doesn't exactly negate anything in the anime. Aside from a few really minor changes that are slightly inconsistent with the anime (like, where an event takes place, or a specific line that is said, including your own interactive input as Kyuubey or Homura), the story adds a few extra scenes that explain what some other characters were doing during or outside the scenes in the anime... but the routes in the game are really interesting. At first, I believed they were alternate stories or timelines that didn't actually make sense, but then I realized that each route is a timeline from Homura's past, or something similar. And the first route, which is Madoka's route, follows the anime... until the end of episode 8. Homura doesn't get there in time and Madoka completes her contract, running off to find Sayaka. Homura gets upset and resets the timeline right then and there, ending the first route. I was like, "wut..."]

Well...you just played a game based on the same basic premise as Rogue or netHack or Shiren the Wanderer.

How does one clean the soul-gem then? Over time or via items? Just curious even though I'm never going to play the game.

When you beat the witches, you get their Grief Seeds. Each one has two uses, though they only recover about... half of your Soul Gem's purity. Not even half, most of the time. It's kinda upsetting, since they're so limited... but that's why you have to be careful using the Kyuubey button and making choices in the Visual Novel portion. You increase or decrease the fate/emotion level of the girls/Magical Girls, and the higher that number is, the stronger they are... but the faster they consume their Soul Gem's power.

But really. Anyone who can't read Japanese should be warned--it's about the story, for the most part. You'll probably be disappointed with the game if you treat it like you would any other RPG and judge it only on its RPG gameplay aspects, since they are few and far in-between compared to the dialog scenes. People who understand a little Japanese, but can't read kanji all that well should be mostly fine, since there is voice acting.

The music sometimes stops for a split second, but that's happened with several PSP games I own. I haven't had any graphic glitches, though. I hope they fix it soon. I am translating the entirety of Sayaka's route, and that's what is considered the bugged part. If I try finding all the scenarios to translate them, I might come across the major bugs in her route... D:

Well, it was buggy. I've download a JPN rom for my psp, and I've tried it. It was all awesome and ok since I've met Homura, when Madoka follow her for the nursery room (I'm currently playing the Madoka route, the first only available at the beginning of the game) and tell her some japanese words that I can't translate, 'because I don't know japan language, and then appears an ''japanesewords10japaneseword''.
I'm forced to click it, and then the game freeze at the town map and my psp turn off.
I hope that's only the .iso file incomplete, or maybe it was a bug. If someone can explain this as a verify bug I'll be grateful. Oh, and forgive my bad english, I'm italian Anime hyper
I'm currently downloading another rom .cso, I hope this will work.
