ANN may want to double-check the fine print:

January 2012?

Didn't you know that ANN has a functioning time machine? Although I heard it only goes backwards. Wink

In all seriousness, good luck to those who enter.

I'm glad Section23 picked up the licence for this title. I've never seen Mardock Scramble: The First Compression, but I've wanted to ever since the first promos were released, and even more so after having read the 3-book novel (I'm also picking up the manga volumes as they're being released, though I prefer the character designs and darker tone of the movie and storyline of the novel). I'm glad Section23 gave it a Blu-ray release, as from what I've seen of the promos, the animation deserves it.

Entered it. Good luck to ya'll!

I've wanted this one since it was licensed by Sentai Filmworks.

As for the January 2012 part, it was probably copied and pasted. :p

Well, the contest is open to people of parallel dimensions and neighboring worlds. When coming to Earth to pick up their prize, they probably just messed up their coordinates and ended up back in time 2 months Razz

I watched the first Mardock Scramble movie a few months ago and I really enjoyed it. Smooth animation, great visual style, not too focused either on being talky all the time or just all action all the time, and a decidedly adult storyline with some very, VERY bizarre characters [especially towards the end]. It reminds me very much of the OVA and movies of the late 80's and early 90's, given a bit of gloss for the new era.

Definitely something that long-time anime fans should check out.

I have been getting those 500 error's a lot too. But anyway, back to the topic; I was going to buy this anyway, but if I can get this that would be even better! Very Happy

Good luck everyone!

That's pretty cool; I was just wondering the other day if I'd ever get to see it anytime soon.... definitely not in a financial position to do a blind-buy, especially if it's particularly graphic.

Oh, and I'm glad that I'm not the only one that noticed the "January 2012" mistake that must've been leftover text from a previous contest.... just exactly when will we see winners posted?

The movie is very much "graphic" but the story is very well down. I've already pre-ordered mine through rightstuf, but if I get one for free here, then I'll have the perfect gift for one of my anime friends :3

After I submitted my info for the contest earlier, I think it said the winners would be announced March 23rd or 26th, or some date close to that. Unfortunately, you only see the date after you've entered.

I've been excited about Mardock Scramble: The First Compression for a while now, but I haven't bought it yet for some dumb reason, so I was very happy to enter this contest

For now, it's available free via Hulu, so you can sample it there if you like.

I haven't seen the film yet, but I have read the manga and read about the film, so I feel qualified to say that it's very graphic. It's about an adolescent prostitute whom somebody tries to burn to death, but is resurrected as a cyborg killing machine to exact her revenge.

Y'know, for kids!

At one point she fights some hired killers called the, "Bandersnatch Gang," which is lead by, and I am not making this up (Tow Ubakata was, of course, but that's his job), Welldone the Pussyhands. Interpret that literally. From what I've gathered, the rest of the story is tamer, with the next part of the book being an overlong casino caper, but the first part is from what I can tell, pretty messed up.

I watched the directors cut on Anime Network OnDemand last night... "messed up" is a bit of an understatement. Good movie though; I gave it a 9/10. I'd love to add it to my collection =3
