Lots of people remember Pizza Cats. The problem is that many of the jokes on the English (edited) dub don't really work anymore (Sonny Bono References!), and I doubt any company would want to take the risk with a REAL English translation...

Never before have I laughed so hard at the Answerman column. Ahhh... Hottest Man on Man action! Weekend Daddy! All together hilarious. Congrats on another great entry.
I had a question about the Manga you spoke about. Not the title itself, but its serialization. I know Kodansha publishes many anthologies - Shounen Weekly, Afternoon and Evening being just a few. Why so many?

Curtis was a good pick. The runner-up wasn't very interesting, though. Also, methinks Zac's going to get a lot of captions with "Can you hear me now?"

Unsurprisingly I get a lot of All Your Base references.
For serious, who thinks that's funny, still?

I still do, for good nostalgic laughs. RvB's "Real Life vs. the Internet" is far funnier. Though AYB shirts from thinkgeek.com are still wonderfully amusing.
And thankfully, my caption submission is NOT a "Can you hear me now" one . I thought of something original for that one....heh heh heh (probably still won't win, though).

Don't underestimate nostalgia.

I think that Answerman was too hard on the person who's letter ended up in the "Flake of the Week" category. For one thing, the person did ask for both yaoi and yuri, so it's entirely possible that the guy who calls himself "Answerman" might know at least about one of those categories. As for "gay porn" and "man-on-man action" comments, one does not need to be a homosexual in order to enjoy yaoi or yuri as proven by the fact that yuri, for example, is popular amongst straight men. That's doesen't necessarily mean that Answerman would know anything about those genres, but then a again... they are both part of anime, and all things considered I don't think the question was all that unreasonable.
I understand that the letter which asks recommendations on the shows based on a lever of adult content might go beyond the limits of the column (even if sites like Anime On DVD have hentai reviews) but this wasn't made clear in the response. If this is the case I suggest it's pointed out more explicitly so that situation like that doesen't happen again.
Just my 2 cents.

C'mon Zac, expand your boundaries! :D Try out some yaoi and see what's going on out there in the world!
Unfortunately, most yaoi anime isn't that hot. There are still a lot of limits to how far they'll go in Japan but at the same time, a lot of what yaoi is is just the implications, the looks, the style and less about the substance.
There are only a handful of yaoi releases out there in anime form right now:
CPM and MB each have different parts of Kizuna. There's intimate moments to be had but they're not explicit. They do go beyond what you see in the shows the person asked about though.
My Sexual Harrassment of course needs to be mentioned since its corn sequence is legendary even among people who will never see it. It's a bit more explicit.
Level C is another one that falls sort of between the two from what I remember.
There are a lot more yaoi themed/boys love material out there in both manga and anime form, but kudos to MB and CPM for bringing out the couple of anime shows that do exist.
I personally didn't care much for either of them though I think the new Kizuna was nicely done and My Sexual Harrassment is amusing in a number of ways but they're all playing up the yaoi theme spot on. They certainly appealed to a number of women I know for a variety of reasons.

Chris: Most hentai isn't that hot, either, especially when it's doujinshi.

Depends on tastes is all. There's certainly enough crap out there but there's a lot of good material as well. Unfortunately the entire genre is simply ignored or villified by people.

I just don't know why you'd ask a heterosexual male for his gay porn recommendations.

Because it's anime like all other anime? I mean, you're bound to get questions and requests for recommendations for genres you don't like. I'm sure there are other genres you don't like as well. What's the difference?
Edited addition: I know that ANN does not cover adult material so there is that caveat. However, it's not actively listed anywhere to my knowledge or specifically within your column itself. Since you don't/can't answer those questions, you may want to add that in where people see the submission link that such questions won't be answered. Unless you just want to have them for flake of the week material.

I don't mean to break up this discussion, but can anybody tell me what series/movie last week's screen shot came from? I'm just curious, is all.

I'm pretty sure it was Noir. I think that's what people said in the response thread.
