Just wondering if anime is that popular around the world. Currently at least every friend i know has wastched an anime and has ended up being hooked on a particulary series. Well thats just my areas and i'm wondering if there are alot of non-asian fans cause even though i live in toronto, there are mostly asians in my area.

Me and my freind are like twins, we like evrthing that the other one likes. The sad thing is all of our other freinds think anime is all big boobs. In the hall ways I can tell if some people do like it.

Absolutely not, i'm probably one of 50 people in well populated city that watch anime. But it's okay, I like it when it's not m ainstream, it's much better than having 13 year olds running around with rurouni kenshin shirts on.

It bothers me as well. I don't want to see some little Pokemon fanboy running around, yelling "OMG DID YOU SEE TEH NEW KENSHIN YESTERDAY IT WAS SO AWESOME HE USED ULTIMATE DRAGON SLASH ON SAITO IT WAS KEWL!!!111!!!" Then his mom catches him watching it and sees some blood or hears "Dammit," and goes on a rampage to ban anime. |

Why does that bother you? Isn't that kid entitled to his opinion? If he enjoys it then let him enjoy it.
Personally I love Nethack. http://members.chello.at/theodor.lauppert/games/nethack/nethack.png It's a great game but it takes some effort to recognize its true qualities. If you can't bring that effort, does that mean that you're a dirty noob I should be bothered with? |

Not particularly no, but I've found a few friends who like, converted others, and regularly go to an anime club at my college which has about 20 members.

No, I'm one of the only few people that I know of that really like it. None of my friends are fans of it really but one of them does tend to watch a anime every now and then. I think I'm the only one anywhere near me that REALLY likes anime.

I live in Denton, TX ...which is part of the whole Dallas/Ft Worth area. Anime is VERY big here. The college anime club that am an officer in is getting ready for the new school year...and finding a place to fit everyone in the club. We are expecting anywhere from 150 to 200 members this year. It's been great to see us grow, but the best part is we are like a little community. People help each other with cosplay, or trading anime, and make friends. It's really nice.

All of my friends are huge otaku... And there are MANY people at my school that love anime as well. There is an anime night at a comic book shop near me that is always packed. AC-Cubed (anime convention) is a big deal here as well. And you can find anime and manga in nearly every book and movie store as well as places like Zellers and Wal-Mart. Also, my friends and I are going to try to create an anime club at our high school next year. We just have to find a teacher, which won't be that difficult. But the weirdest thing about anime fans here is that if you ask nearly anyone's parents about it, you find out that they were once or still are otaku as well! There is a story about a friend of one of my best friends dad watching DBZ for 8 hours straight, walking around down town and seeing Gouku and thinking that he was drunk. He didn't know that there was a convention.

I agree completely. I'm fourteen, and although I don't run around with fan shirts, some people like to display what they love. Why stop them? How does it bother you if a thirteen year old has an anime T-shirt on? As Iemander rightly said, let the kid enjoy it. I'm only one 'age' above thirteen, and I still enjoy anime. Anyway, in my school, I seem to have made friends with the creative type, the kind that would definately appreciate anime. Two out of the four of my group of friends love the anime they've seen, though I must say that they're not very knowledgable. One, I think, feels alright about it but doesn't awknowledge the fact. I've only had to SHOW THEM one, and they apparently loved it, but I wouldn't consider them an anime fan because they seem...well, 'weirded out' for lack of a better term. I'll also say that they don't go out of their way at all to watch anything. I had to show her the only one she's ever seen. The last one would love it, I'm sure, but hasn't seen any. ._. Anyway, that's all. Not many in my school really appreicate it, openly. At least not in my grade. Not at all. |

Not really-there might be some secret anime fans in my town, but for the most part, no. The only people I know of are a girl and a boy in my class who came from the Phillipines, and a boy who's was on a foreign exchange trip from Japan. I live in fairly small town so there's no anime or comic book conventions where people can get together so I don't really know if anime is a big thing here. I know there's a lot of Star Wars fans in my area though-that line-up was huge!

its not really that big here either the campus anime club consists of about 20 members. i was gonna join but they´re kinda weird. im in college by the way. i dont want to hang out with fellow anime fans who have to call their moms to give them rides to school or conventions. i dont mind little kids wearing anime ¨gear¨. i always buy my godson anime shirts and backpacks. I've bought him kenshin shirts, FMA shirts, and other various anime stuff. he's as passionate as i am about anime i dont let him watch anything mature though. gantz and elfen lied are some i dont show him. he loves kenshin, gungrave, gundam, eva, initial d and gits sac (i dont wanna show him the movie). kids can love anime as much as the next guy and to answer your question, no anime is not that big in this area.
