I'm excited beyond words about these two films, especially with the way "You Can (Not) Advance" ended. Can't wait to see how Anno pulls everything together at the end.

Or, judging by how he ended the main series, DOESN'T pull it together Very Happy

I think it was pretty clear from the end of 2.0 that spoiler[these movies are sequels to the original, not remakes.]

But I can see why you'd list it like that in your article title.[/spoiler]

I hope Khara is doing the last two movies back to back, because after how long we had to wait for the third movie to finally get an aproximate release date, I don't see how else they could release the fourth one only one year later.

Nice!

EDIT: Hmm... You Can (Not) Redo? Considering how the last movie ended and how the brackets in those English titles work, I believe this movie will involve Shinji and Gendo taking something to its extremes (An EVA?), until it can never be returned to its original form (Berserk Mode?).

Yeah, I'm not gonna take this very seriously at least until the beginning of 2013.

The original plan was to show movie 3 and 4 back-to-back.
I'd assume that due to the problems that held movie 3's release back so long, that they have probably been working on both movies at the same time, but have had to put more resources into getting movie 3 out.
So if movie 3 is released, say, summer 2012, then it's easily possible for them to release movie 4 a year later.

Going along with what Splitter said, perhaps the article title could be changed to "Final Rebuild of Evangelion Film to Open in 2013"? Since that's the title of the series anyway.

This announcement is words.

Cheap, cheap words.

This is Gainax and Khara, they'll keep moving those goal posts.

"Rebuild of Evangelion 3.0: You Can (Not) Redo"? Eh?

I can't wait to see how this will end. Wondering if it will be a more sensible ending, a cheap ending (Congratulations) or an ending as F**** Up as End of Evangelion. Looking forward to it!

"You Can (Not) Redo", huh? I still don't think there's enough evidence to support the "Rebuild is a sequel" theory.

Yes, "You Can (Not) Redo", eh? That title would certainly be apropos given the order of events in the last two films, as well as the subtle "Is it a sequel?" tidbits laid throughout. However, I'm not entirely sure if it could be one, as it could easily be a standalone film series that plays off of the events in EoE in its own self-contained story.

I don't think it's some kind of metafictional wink from Anno's part, at least not in its primary meaning. Probably more to do with some past mistakes someone can't fix or something like that.

I also dont think it's a sequel (plot-wise at least) based on what has been revealed thus far, although Anno could be trolling us I suppose.

The fact that it's in question and isn't explicitly stated by the filmmakers (who in fact bill these films as remakes often enough) means the news article shouldn't be changed.
