Curious: How much would you be willing to pay for anime on UMD? For a video that can only be played on the PSP (right?), I wouldn't pay much. $15 at the very most, and then with a decent episode count.
I mean, let's be realistic: if you like the anime, you're going to buy the DVD. You don't want your only copy to be one that only plays on a palm-sized screen. Given that, how much would you pay for a second copy for the road?

I think they should sell for about the same ADV sells the animini DVD's with one episode on them, about 5.99-7.99 (Probably what DeepDiscountDVD would sell them for) would be appropriate. More than likely, UMD's couldn't fit more than 2 episodes on them.

They they just put the dub and no extra stuff, maybe 3. Anyhoot, no, unless it's for free or at a really low price. I already don't like the battery life on it, and the fact that when I buy it, it'll be just for games, and maybe MP3s.

They have full length movies on the UMD discs, so I think there could be 3 epsiodes on one.
I have a PSP. It would be nice to have anime, however, I don't think I'd collect a series for the PSP. It would be nice to see a few movies like Ghost in the shell or Escaflowne though.

If you think about it, the PSP screen is really too small to try to read subtitles on them, so it does make sense that they'll be dub only.

More people need to put out manga on the PSP. I mean, sure, I can put scanlations on it, but sometimes you wanna read a couple books worth legal stuff, you know?
And anime? I wouldn't buy a UMD unless it was the only way to get that show.

Look people, value over convenience is a hard battle to be won here, give it a little time and acceptance and it will eventually be more practical.
Also, depending on how much motion and quality we are talking can determine how many episodes a UMD can have. I personally never did that much experimenting with the MPEG4 format that the PSP has but I did do a little encoding with an encoder you can use to get a video file into the format and from what I've seen it's quite a lot. At that resolution and format from what I've seen it can hold nearly the footage equivalent of at least a single layered DVD, roughly at least. And considering anime and certain compression techniques avaliable to that they can probably put out 6 episodes a UMD if they went through a moderate degree of effort, or at least I can imagine. Although I do know that numeber may be a bit high I can certainly say they can fit at least 3 or 4 anime episodes a UMD for sure.
And as for subtitles, they could use them, they'd probably just be a bit bigger then normal proportioned subtitles if they really wanted to get around that problem, it wouldn't be so bad.
And yes, it would be more convinient if we had a UMD burner in the mix for this or something like that to make it more practicle but I'm sure they're well aware of that and thinking about it if they still have it open for discission.
