My money is on Yuunagi no Machi Sakura no Kuni. It already won the grand prize at the Media Arts festival, and while I know the Tezuka awards tend to lean towards the more mainstream/popular titles, the subject matter (Hiroshima) should get it alot of attention. Of the other things I've read, I think that they're good choices overall. Pluto is a great thriller, but nothing Urasawa hasn't done before. Real is another great work from Inoue, but I'd rather see something like Yuunagi no Machi Sakura no Kuni or Nodame Cantabile (thanks to Del Rey for licencing this) win it. I am really interested in Historie though. Anyone know anything about this?

Kinda disapointed about Pluto winning. It's a great thriller that should definitally have been nominated, but Urasawa isn't really doing anything new aside from choosing the Astro Boy setting (I'm sure this was a big factor) and inserting some philosophy in there.

No way Pluto should of won, it's barely more than 20 chapters in. All I've read so far is just introduction after introduction of characters and potential story lines. The Tezuka relation probably won him it. Bah, it's all politics.

The fact that Tezuka's daughter in law won the grand prize previously does lend some extra credence to this accusation.
On the other hand, neither is really hard proof.
