That's not a thread about badly written characters, but about those who triggers the worst emotions in you. Portraying villain is a thickly work. How to complete complete monster with all necessarily background who is not bad "just for evulz" and don't make audience feel sympathy for him. Who succeeded? Which characters you want to die slowly and painfully.

1)spoiler[Akio] from Utena. My feelings toward him fluctuates. I used to think about him as a chess-master, now he seems a bit pathetic- just a few sentences destroyed him completely. On the other hand he managed to play with all the cast like his puppets and play around with everyone he could get. It was a great relief to see his amazed face.

2)spoiler[Drosselmeyer] from Princess Tutu. Similar to above minus sexual obsession.

3) Last, but not least spoiler[Gryffith] from Berserk. My feelings towards him involve red hot poker and many other luckily forgotten playthings. My whole admiration for him was turned into pure hate and it grows with every chapter of the manga. But what would Berserk be without him?

This is easy.

Kanone from Spiral: The Melody of Logic. The first anime I ever
loved, I was just too emotionally invested to tolerate the way he
treated my favorite characters.

I guess the mangaka read your mind.

I suppose Peter Chapek from Monster would fit the bill. He was pretty evil for no reason, but just like real life evil people, he was rather weak and pathetic, hiding behind his position and authority to control people.

I can't remember her name, but the lying, manipulative bitch in Peach Girl deserved to die in a fire. Hated the series, but hated her more (she's just about the only thing I remember about it).

Harry from GunGrave. I can't remember one second of the show where I liked him or felt sympathy for him.

My vote is for Last Exile's Queen Delphine. Among the list of her crimes are war incitement, torture and both attempted and successful assassinations. But the crime we hate her for, and the moment for which we know she has to go down, is when spoiler[she murders her brother's extremely sympathetic de jure slave and de facto best friend out of sick jealousy that her brother loves him more than her (gee, I wonder why?), using his desperate attempt to free her brother from her mind control as the excuse she's been looking for. ]

Truly a repulsive individual.

1. Amshel from Blood+... I could not stand him. He was probably one of the most irritating villains I have ever seen. He was after all the one who came up spoiler[with all the twisted experiments] and kept on reassuring Diva in her madness.

2. Sunako from Shiki. Arrrghh. Frustration overflow. An infantile, egoistic and sadistic brat, her constant moaning, self-pity, looking for stupid excuses for tearing apart families. I know it served a purpose, but it was difficult to listen to her trying to defend herself knowing what she did.

I'm all for villains, as most of the time they are my fav characters, when they are well written. I never really hated any of them but if i had to choose one truly horrible villain it would be spoiler[Takano ] from higurashi.

I mean, she spoiler[kills children, and enjoys it!] how worst can you get?

And honorable mentions to spoiler[Coemushi] from Bokurano, because he's an intergalactic douche.

If I had to choose a villain who actually got my jimmies rustled, it'd probably be Paptimus Scirocco, from Zeta Gundam. As much as I love manipulative douchebags and Char stand-ins, there's just not much I can love about spoiler[a self-proclaimed feminist who spends a good deal of his time manipulating women to die for him, not even pretending to care after the fact.]

The ones I can remember right off the bat:

- spoiler[Light] (Death Note): The bastard had a lethal combo of annoying and infuriating qualities. He was, apparently, smarter than anyone else, and knew it. He went his own way, killing and backstabbing lots of other characters I liked more (spoiler[Even his own father!]).

- spoiler[Sasuke] (Naruto): After everything he has done, I can't see him as a good character anymore, and the feeling that he's nothing more than a plot tool doesn't help, either. All those emo-hating and homoerotic vibes he gives me are so annoying. I just hope he finds a gruesome death in the end.

What really bothers me is the fact that a character with the mindset of a lame 15 years old does anything he pleases and it's not stopped.

I have yet to meet one who pisses me off more than Muraki from Yami no Matsuei. There are very few bigger triggers for me than spoiler[rape.] It's why I dislike a majority of yaoi with their dubious love scenes and cliches.

But Muraki earned a special place for me on my list of Privates I'd Like to Garrote with a Metal Wire with his infuriatingly smooth and cocky personality, sexual harassment, spoiler[rape and torture of Hisoka], and almost always getting his way spoiler[(up until Tsuzuki destroyed all of his life's work in Tohda's fire).]

Yes, Muraki does have a depressing backstory, which makes me feel just a little bit of sympathy for him: a case of spoiler[the abused becomes the abuser.] At the same time, he pisses me off no less and I can't really forgive him.
