I have some questions about Osamu Tesuka's Pheonix and was hoping somebody could help out.
1)I know it was unfinished at his death and believe there are twelve parts, how many more parts did he intend to write or was the twelve the last and was just left unfinished?
2)Are there any plans to realise the rest of Pheonix in English?

And on a side note
Are Akira and Domu Katsuhiro Otomo's only manga works?

Their were only 12, it was unfinished. Tezuka died at young age (only 60 years old). It is unknown how many more parts he was going to write, but he wanted the past and the future segments to eventually meet at present day.

Yes I think so, but very slowly... excrutiatingly slowly... it took a year between the release of Future and Dawn. If you knew french you could experience the joys of their market and (I believe) get the whole thing. Viz it appears is more interested in releasing DBZ-like crap (Shounen fighting series) right now to worry about one of the greatest cartoonists of all time.

No, and this is another thing that makes me mad about the American manga market. Akira is one of the most recognizable anime names out their, just putting the phrase "from the creator of Akira" would make his works sell!! Is America afraid of the more innovative manga-ka's? sigh!

Some other works include The Legend of Mother Sarah (the only other one available in englsih, with Takumi Nagayasu doing the art), World Apartment Horror (with manga-ka turned director Satoshi Kon), Memories (A comic anthology, like the film that was an omnibus of anime), and many, many more listed at this site (with pictures) http://otomo.free.fr/biography.htm
and this site in japanese (which might be more comprehensive than the french one) http://www.interq.or.jp/blue/junya/appleparadise/html/ok-works1.html

If you know Spanish or French you could get a couple more of his works... good luck finding places that import them if you do.

Since our manga market still isn't very good, and no scanlators are interested in getting some of his work done... your out of luck and in the same boat I'm in...
