I shudder at what the price of the US release of Fate/Zero will be (if it is licensed) considering the price for Kara no Kyoukai

Considering the fact that most anime dvd/bds are about $60 per 2 episodes, this is only about a hundred checked up from that. at 13 episodes + 1 special, comes down to around $37 per episode. Anime ain't cheap to make, ya know. |

I have feeling Aniplex will treat Fate/Zero very nicely, Madoka-style, over here, so I'll definately wait.

Actually $60/2ep is not even true anymore because of the exchange rate. In comparison to Horizon, Ikamusume S2, Working S2, Tamayura, Haganai, or a bunch of other shows on the air right now, Fate/Zero is cheaper than most on a per-episode basis. In fact it has so much value-added things in this box that it might be one of the best-bang-for-the-buck R2 blu-ray import this season. It's just expensive because you have to buy it in one shot. If you can browse Japanese there's a breakdown here: http://yaraon.blog109.fc2.com/blog-entry-4770.html |

Welcome to how Blu-Rays are released for anime series in Japan. In fact, most home media releases in Japan are much more expensive than their international counterparts. |

Frig....I'd love to have this show. Even with amazon discounts it'll be almost 400 bucks for sure.

Only 40k yen MSRP? Huh, that's actually a pretty reasonable price.
Keep in mind this is Type-Moon, the same company that sells a few 10 minute shorts (Carnival Phantasm) for 7-8k yen each. Granted, they're awesome shorts, but there's no way in the world I would throw down ~$300 for about what equates to 100 minutes of run-time. |

I have to imagine what Aniplex USA will do when the show's released here? spoiler[(Ans.: Probably the same thing.)]
But as much as I want to scoff at the price, given everything they are giving you, it's not terribly bad, though I think the price could stand a $100-200 dollar knock. They are giving you quite a bit of good stuff there, and those animation production books rarely come cheap, either. Too bad it looks like the only release option available right now… |

I actually wouldn't mind paying $200-300, to be honest. But the SRP alone could get me the Oppo BDP-93 or knock a quarter off the 3D TV I've been wanting to get for a while, now. I just don't understand how Aniplex thinks the rest of the world has the same market saturation and standards as the Japanese do or the fact that we, here in the U.S., aren't as big a spender as the average hardcore otaku who would actually be willing to shell out the cash for this kind of thing.
As much as I like supporting the industry, can someone explain to me (particularly the user who reported my post for encouraging piracy) how I'm supposed to find a solution that doesn't involve downloading, but also doesn't cost half of my monthly expenses in utilities for only half a series? Seriously. Tell me your method. I am all ears and am willing to sell lemonade for the next 5.48 years if you think these sets won't, a) be sold out by then, or b) actually be affordable to a middle class guy living in Texas by then. |

Heck, I'll tell ya for the full series. Both Niconico and Crunchyroll are streaming Fate/Zero. So you can watch the whole series, for free! Saying that you'll be downloading the BD rips... that honestly made me facepalm quite a bit. |

I'm inclined in future not to watch streamed Aniplex product. It's just encouraging them.
