heh...I haven't liked ADV for a while. Once the anime boom hit, they seemed to lose more and more of their fan qualities. They used to be by fans for fans, but it's been looking less and less like that for a long time now. Granted, I find no problem in two episodes a disc for 11 bucks a dvd. If it was the price of a regular dvd than I would say you people have a case against them. They're milking money out of people. That's what businesses do. Get this, ADV is a business. It's a licensing and distribution company. It's funny because people don't seem to realise things until it hits closer to home. Do you remember the whole "ADV is being undermined by the corporate giant Comcast" fiasco a little ways back? ADV running to its "fans" for support. Where's the support from ADV? It's a business, everyone should learn to deal with it. ADV isn't doing anything wrong, but they're not pleasing the fans. In the end, isn't that what it's all about? Not pleasing the fans, and instead pleasing the Tom, Dick, and Harry's who outnumber fanboy number # by a thousand to 1? When you're trying to get money, who would you rather try to get the attention of?

I think adv is making some terrible decisions, but they also need to test out the waters. If Gantz sells well, they might do more 2 disc releases. I see it having a chance. They just needed a stronger series to start it off with...I don't remember Gantz having a whole lot of community support. It was just another show of the season. Terrible decisions, but understandable reasons. I still don't like ADV, I just think this isn't the worst thing they've done. Ofcourse ADV is nowhere near as bad as certain other companies....

Oh, ADV does also tend to bring out those nifty box sets atleast, right? So just wait a few years and you can get it cheap all together.

But seeing that the "standard" Anime DVD has on average, 4 or 5 Episodes per disc for $15-$30 with Extras, this is a very risky (or foolish or unavoidable) decision on ADV films part.

If ADV said "We have to make it 2 Episodes per Disc due to contratual agreements" then yeah, people would understand. But since there is NO info to the contrary, people have a right to complain about it.

Considering there's no reason to blame the Japanese side, I found that line of reasoning retarded to begin with. It'd be petty of ADV to come out with "Japan made us do it." Also, considering the people on the Japanese side, Gonzo and Fuji TV, I find they've done outstanding jobs with the licensing to US companies. So the charge that Japan made us do it seems fairly ridiculous. Besides, a dvd is $15 after a long long time. Give it time, the Gantz dvds will probably go down to like 5 bucks a pop. If not, wait for the box set. You people complain too much about things that are completely reasonable. A typical episode generally costs what, 6 bucks on a dvd, right? 4 episodes for the most part on one dvd. The cost is usually 30 bucks. Run it through the ol' grey matter, or a calculator...you get about 7 and a half bucks per episode. 5 per disc would be 6 bucks. Even at 25 it's like 6 to 5 bucks per ep. So Gantz's price of omg, around 6 bucks an ep isn't that bad at all. Even if it was a bit more, perhaps 7 bucks an episode, it's still not that bad. Everyone's just pissed because it takes up more shelf space. That I can understand.

Now what you people should be really pissed about is the fact that Gantz is heading up to 26 episodes. Now if ADV learns from the "fans" complaints, they'd better squeeze the next half into as few dvds as possible. Hahahaha.

It's more like 3-5 episodes and $25-30.
