I'm not sure where you're getting that from. My understanding is that Anno and the Mangaka couldn't agree on the direction for the series and so that is why it only had one season, even though the manga easily has enough material for another season. Anno wanted to take the show in a dark direction, which he did a little in the last few episodes, but the Mangaka wanted to keep it as a light romantic comedy.

Yeah, it's right that they couldn't agree on a direction to take it in. However, it was Tsuda that refused to let them do a second season because Anno emphasized the lightness of the manga, whereas Tsuda felt that he neglected much of the darker parts of the manga. Reading the later volumes, especially where Arima's parents show up, it's pretty obvious it was Tsuda who wanted a darker emphasis. But, they definately could make at least one or two more seasons with the amount of manga that's unanimated.

Hmm...for some reason I was unaware that he worked on Kare Kano, that makes me feel kinda dumb, anyway...yeah, the anime of Kare Kano definently left you hanging, and I haven't been able to read the manga but I want too...

Ah well, anyway, I wasn't a big Eva fan, but I'm kinda curious about what Anno's working on now, wonder how long it'll be before something gets leaked about what he's working on...

I still think it was a bad idea to try and make it so much darker then the first part was, it didn't really fit at all. After it started to try and get all dark, I just gave up on the manga because it was just awful.

I wouldn't plan on seeing anything animated coming from Anno Hideaki since he left the animation business to pursue Live Action. Though, hopefully, I am wrong.

When I heard that Anno was directing a live Action Cutie Honey, I was so stoked. But upon viewing it, I was dissappointed. The story was so shallow. And, in my opinion, the directing wasnt his best (the constantly changing camera angles didn't work to well for live action).

Yet, Anno remains my favorite Anime Director, and I look forward to anything he does.

He still works in anime. He worked on Submarine 707R and Petite Princess Yucie recently.

From what I've heard in interviews, Anno is still pretty jaded about anime, and he agreed to direct live Cutey Honey to get funding for a more independent project.

Honestly? I wouldn't be surprised in the least if Anno decided on heading back into anime. His live-action works aren't making much money, and these people don't live in a vacuum. A guy needs a paycheck.

On a tangent, why on Earth did I not put it together that Moyoco Anno = Anno Hideaki's wife? I even *knew* he'd gotten married in 2002. Two plus two!

How embarrassing.
