Some of us are just peeved that we have to pay up the arse if we want to legitimately watch something in the format we prefer. It's not as simple as hitting a button. What's simple is hitting a button and getting it on cable television. Getting cable has a lot more rewards then buying dvds and boxsets.....I try not to watch dubs, but sometimes I don't feel like changing the channel after family guy and futurama..... |

FUNimation had registered the domain www.dragonballmovie.com a couple of years ago. It was never used...

It's amazing how as human beings, when we get the news that a well-liked anime might be coming to our shores, we argue about it and bring up all sorts of irrelevant topics. Isn't that great?

This doesn't mean funimation will get this series.
This quaote is from Toboe: You aren't going to get Academy-nominated performances from a Japanese cartoon, in either language. Umm i hate to tell you that japanese anime has won academy awards.Look at spirited away.Plus more then a couple of more have been nominated. |

Is it the format you prefer if you dislike watching it so much? On the other hand, if you're NOT paying for a DVD or boxset, you're getting it really, really cheap ..., so maybe you should be happy just for that. I don't have cable, and even if I did all I'd get would be CN, which often doesn't air what I want to watch. (I also wouldn't watch a bad dub even if they did air it.) It's like complaining about not having an R-rated movie shown edit-free on TV just because you're paying for cable. If you want the luxury of a "perfect" viewing experience, lay down some cash and get the whole movie plus all the juicy extras. Does anyone else think it's a bit hypocritical for someone to complain about dubs on the grounds that it's their only source of anime and yet make no effort to take the obvious step and purchase the subbed version, readily available over the Internet if not at your nearest video store? Heck, my LIBRARY carries anime on dvd and vhs. I see your point hkrok76, but I hope you also see mine. |

If you watch Beck, you'll see that when they speak english, or even when the camera is focusing on their mouth, the lips move according to what they are saying. A dub might work fairly well, but the mix of Japanese and English some of the female characters in one episode would be lost.
However, dubs are a necessary evil for those who hate listening to anything other than their native language. Believe me, I know someone who watches some anime, but says he hates listening to them speak in Japanese. Also, I think he's a little slow anyway. |

I'm sick of people complaining about what an expensive hobby anime is. Guess what. It isn't cheap for Japanese anime fans, either. And they live in the country it's produced in. Why should others get it cheaper and more conveniently?
The beauty of bilingual DVDs is that you can watch the English dub version or Japanese with subtitles. It's wonderful. Wah wah, you have to pay more for this luxury? Too bad. That's the way it is. That's the way it SHOULD BE. There's nothing wrong with a dub, by the way, if it's done well. FUNimation is perfectly able to do a good one. I was just doubtful that Beck will be handled correctly since their handling of FMA has been unsatisfactory (to say the least). |

It is obvious that he thinks that the corpation has done a horrible job at the dub.Listen to put it simple you have the right to say they have done a good job and like it.But at the same time he has the right to his opnion.Leave it at.It is getting to the point of nitpicking over each others opnion. |

Uh, READ. He said "You aren't going to get Academy-nominated performances from a Japanese cartoon." PERFORMANCES. This means voice-acting. Not the actual anime itself. |

However, when someone says "(and that's only the LEAST of its problems!)" regarding something the overwhelming majority regards as superbly-done, it raises a few eyebrows and prompts people to want an explanation. Personally, I'd like to know what penguintruth's problem with it is, too; if you want to call my idle curiosity an attack upon his opinion, then I guess I'm attacking his opinion and I feel sorry for you for having such thin skin regarding statements not even involving you. Toboe's wording may have been a bit harsh, but I don't see anything inherently wrong with the actual question he was posing. |

Well, since we don't live in Japan, I guess it's our duty to shut our mouths and not complain about anything they do and just take it. As a free market society it is not only our right to complain, it's our duty to complain. It's also the way a fan can make their voice heard. If enough voices are heard, things will change. It's not a matter of comparing ourselves with Japan, it's the fact that we're living (i'm guessing most of us) in the US. So we should look at what is relevant to ourselves. I don't care that it isn't cheap for Japanese fans. What I care about is the fact that it's too expensive for American fans. Why should we get it cheaper? I'm guessing because the United States is a much larger market than Japan...Not only that, it's me that has to pay for these things. Why settle. Now, with the whole if you like subs buy the dvd and stop complaining. Why not have only have subs on television? Because people who want to watch it dubbed into their native language would complain. So why can't we sub fans complain? I think that's hypocritical. Sure, some people will reply that people would stop watching anime if that happened. Then it isn't that great to start with, now is it? I have faith. No matter what language they're speaking, people will come.
Ok, I never said it's my only source, so your point is moot. What I meant is that, because of sub fans being the minority, we get stuck with dishing out more effort(and dough) to watch anime in our preferred format. Granted that's fine. We are the minority. Since our society is a democratic one, we have to deal with it. We can still complain. If you don't like us complaining then don't read our opinions and complaints. It's what we have to do for dubs, if we don't like it, we just gotta not watch. Right? BTW, it's great your library carries anime on dvd and vhs. I'm sure every library around the country does too. Yes we have to work a bit harder and pay a bit more, but that's the price of being a fan. It's a price I'm more than willing to pay. I just hope it'll get easier down the line...I doubt it. |

The acting itself in japanese anime has been better then lots of live action stuff out there. To be honest they do an award for lending their voices. Nagisa. The person is allowed to have their opnion on the subject on how they think about the subject. While yes it would be nice if people explanined their point they do not have to explain it.I was reminding that everyone is allowed to express it wether other people like it or not.So i suggest if someone expresses their opnion and you do not like it you also can ignore it. |
