Rocket Raccoon is a great choice, mainly because Annihilation was an excellent arc. Iron Fist has also had a lot of face time since, I dunno, 2004? Danny Rand is an awesome character who doesn't get nearly enough love.
Actually, y'know what, regarding the Marvel choices, a friend summed it up best:

Yes, "better" like Gambit. Kids still love Gambit, right? Or rather, people who want rehashed shit from the old games who grew up in the 90s who don't actually read comics and are afraid of change love still love Gambit, right? |
I mean, c'mon, the last MvC game had Marrow in it, and featured her prominently on the cabinet and advertisements.

Ugh, I really wanted Juri to be in SFxT. But I still want to play the game.

Juri would be great in that game, a nice contrast for Hwoarang.
Also, Julia vs. T. Hawk, Marshall vs. Fei Long, and Kuma vs. Zangief please.

Just as a quick reminder, the free Game Boy Advance games offered through the Nintendo 3DS's Ambassador Program will only be available to those who purchased the system and connected to the Nintendo 3DS's eShop at least once before August 11, 11:59 PM (Eastern time), a.k.a., the deadline. Nintendo has also stated that, unlike the NES Virtual Console games that will be available through the eShop, Nintendo has no plans to release these select Game Boy Advance games to the general public.

Heh, I was smart. I knew a "Super" edition of Marvel vs Capcom 3 would come out, which is ultimately the reason I skipped out on getting it when it came out in March. I didn't expect one to pop up so soon when it was announced though. I had expected a 2012 release, since that's normally the amount of time Capcom waits before making an updated release.
Also, that screenshot of King of Fighters 13 sure makes that Heidern seem incompetent. I don't know much about the series or its characters, but if he lets someone sitting right next to him sit asleep with a pamphlet in his face, he's not an effective leader. He should at least be yelling at that guy to wake up.
I had been wondering what Keiji Inafune had been up to since quitting Capcom. It sounds like he's still in Japan. Did he encounter any difficulty trying to find work at American game studios?

Miyaji's death: I can't believe it. The creator of the amazing Grandia series, gone. This is a dark day for RPGs indeed. I know the series essentially derailed with Grandia 3 and that horrible online game, but still Grandia 1, 2 and Xtreme were awesome. Such a young age to lose such talent.
UMvC3: About the only good thing coming to it is Firebrand. Seriously that demon needs more love and I don't mean being challenging fodder for Arthur's lances. They should have gone with his Demon's Crest version though, where he's matured into a badass. Towards the Marvel side, I just know the space furry jokes are going to come rolling in with Rocket Raccoon (they may as well have put the Star Fox team in there and fans can reply with "Smooth move Crapbomb!").
Inafune's New Game: Wow, didn't know he was into the cute stuff (well yes, technically speaking Megaman Classic's entire series was drawn in a fairly cutesy art style too but that's different). So that's what he's been up to. I hope he's not secretly into little girls or something (though that would explain Roll lol; I kid of course ).
UnchainBlades Rexx: I'd have honestly preferred this on PSP rather than 3DS, but as I am aware of the fading lifespan of the PSP, that's not looking too likely. It's amazing so much thought when into this game, especially the voice actors and character designers. Heck, the fact the hero's actually a dragon is practically enough to hook me like a fish, but I bet this one will be passed up on possible 3DS localization.
Chantelise: This one doesn't sound too bad to me. I could do without the shop management thing (I'm still playing Rorona, give me a break here! ).

Same here, since fighting games seem to always have more re-releases/special editions and if any company it's always Capcom that does it.
But it was definitely worth the wait, I can't wait to play as Doctor Strange, Hawkeye and Iron Fist. No new X-Men was a bit bumming but I think there's going to be a special DLC for them later on or something, especially since they were so popular to use in the old MvC games.

I'm not to shocked by Ironfist either, anyone who has read comics in the last fews years knows he has made some of a comeback. I'm really excited for Doctor Strange though, one of my favorite Marvel characters.

Chantelise doesn't mess around with bosses. They are puzzle level brutal and I heard they upgraded the latter bosses, who didn't catch up. There is a practice mode for people trying to find the hidden items or boss strategy, in every stage.

unlike a lot of people (mostly those who use TV Tropes as a griefing site), I got over the UMvC3 announcement and just moved on. The CAPCOM choices in particular intrigue me.

Quote: | Her backstory's the source of much contention, as CAPCOM's said that she's really a he—or rather, Ono stated that Poison's a post-op transsexual in America and a pre-op cross-dresser in Japan. |
Amongst a small but identifiable contingent of fans, an alternative not mentioned in the article is preferred.

LOL So you are too good to review Queen's Gate Spiral, a tactical fighting game series that plays like the beloved Super Robot Wars series that, as you mentioned, is one of the biggest cross over of characters in game history.
But you cover To Heart and some generic RPG dungeon crawler without batting an eye.
Typically I like this games column because it seems independent from the rest of the warped self righteous opinions the rest of ANN displays (i.e. Preview: The show looks pandering and signals the fall of anime! Two months later... Review: Despite all appearances this show is really good and has strong characters...blah blah blah. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.)

OMG, Rocket Raccoon??? Now there's a title I haven't heard in a dog's age. I knew that rung a bell somewhere.
That OHANAYA-SAN MONOGATARI looks cute. If it plays like Cooking Mama then might be a nice game for my niece. Cute guys with flowers, nothing like having sensitive men in your game.

To be fair, we already got Wolverine, Storm, and Phoenix. And X-23, I suppose. And Magneto as the X-Men's antagonist. And Sentinel is something of a villainous force mainly targeting the X-Men. So I think the X-Men have a strong enough presence here that we don't need more.
The lack of Mega Man is definitely an oddity though. Mega Man is the mascot series of Capcom, yet it's represented only by Zero and Tron Bonne.

Todd, why is there no mention of Minna no Rhythm Tengoku (a.k.a. Rhythm Heaven Wii)? I was expecting it to be in this week's X Button since it came out recently. Okay, so it came out around Otakon period...
