It's not quite a new label because the've labeled Ultimate Muscle under the Shonen Jump Advance label since at least volume 2. Although it good that they've given more of an idea as to what that line is supposed to be.

Old news.

ICv2, whoever they are, should pay more attention: Ultimate Muscle (Kinnikuman Second Generation) came out this summer and is the first SJ Graphic Novel to bear the Shonen Jump Advanced imprint.

BTW, for the record, I hate wrestling...but I can't get enough of Kinnikuman. This is a riot...like Saint Seiya gone totally, completely NUTS. Anime smile

I see that someone has added "Serialized in: Shonen Jump Advance" to these titles. This is misleading. Shonen Jump Advance is merely the series of graphic novels, not an actual publication like Shonen Jump.

Does Hunter X Hunter have more mature content than Yu Yu Hakusho? Or is Viz just putting it under SJA as a marketing gimmick?

Wow. I'm surprised Hunter x Hunter is there. I'd also like to know if it's really that more mature than what's in SJ right now. =/

Very happy with I''s though. I didn't even know they had it. I bought volume one in Japanese after finishing the whole series online.. but maybe now I'll pick up Viz's release so my boyfriend can read it too. Well, maybe. It did kinda drag on. >_>

If there's one title I am hoping to see from the SJ label (regular or Advanced), it's Kimagure Orange Road. Okay call me old, but this was the title that completely hooked me in.

Looking forward to I's though, will for sure pick that one up.

I've been waiting for KOR forever. Everytime I get one of those survey cards in shonen jump and it asks me what series I'd like to see in the future that's the title I put first. Sure, they won't put it in Jump, but I'd buy the gn's for it if they released it and that's with me already having plenty of scanlaitons. I want the real thing dangit!

My personal feeling is that they created the label to do justice to series that aren't popular here yet, and therefore don't need to be butchered by needless changes, à la DB (Mr. Satan --> "Hercule"), Yu-Gi-Oh! (card names, weird-ass changes after the skip ahead), or One Piece (Zoro's name spelling changed after two years of no problem whatsoever).

So this is probably a good thing... so long as they don't go switching around the lineups once something does get popular enough to warrant all that "fun" tinkering. Confused

I can't see any diffrence, but I only read a couple of volumes into it before getting bored. Maybe a bit more violence than YYH, but about the same level as Naruto.

The licensing agreement which got us Shonen Jump in the first place more or less dropped all of Shueisha's titles on Viz's lap. It's merely a matter of them getting off their ass and PUBLISHING them...

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed those changes! I remember in issue one, they said they would be keeping all the original names of DB characters, and in issue two, they promised that in Yu-Gi-Oh only the cards' names would be changed EXCEPT FOR IMPORTANT ONES LIKE OSIRIS AND THE OTHER CARDS. Then, I read in the "catch-up" in the latest issue (so they can skip ahead past what's aired on TV) that Yugi acquired Slifer. The other God's names are regular (God of the Obelisk, for example), but I just feel lied to. And then Zoro's name in One Piece was mentioned as "Zolo" in a preview for the edited anime ("or Zolo, as he'll likely be known"), and suddenly it changes in the manga!

That being said, I do hope that Viz can keep their damn scissors away from Hunter x Hunter. If that manga becomes popular, it isn't long before they change names in midstream like One Piece.
