Ok, I'm now confused on the way D. Gray-man works.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_D.Gray-man_episodes

If you follow that link it will show you the episode list of D. Gray-man. In the first part it says that there are 2 seasons of D. Gray-man. Episodes 1-51 are season 1 and episodes 52-103 are season 2. However, when you go to buy the DVD's they classify season 1 as episodes 1-26 and season 2 as episodes 27-51.

WUT.

That makes no sense. How can season 1 be one 1-51 and season 1 also be 1-26. Also I see that there is nothing available for 51 on wards. So can someone maybe clarify things for me here? Thanks.

The first list is the original breakdown of D.Grayman seasons from the Japanese production team. Below that on the wiki is the season breakdown done by Funimation for their releases. Funimation's breakdown comes in years after the original seasons so Wiki is listing both to be accurate enough not to be considered wrong.

Ahhhh ok. I thought it was something like that. So then is there 4 seasons for funis release? And i take it then that funi hasn't produced anymore past 51?

Funi has not gotten the license for anything past ep51 yet. If they do then they will problably keep on numbering the seasons their way.
I have no clue what the hold up is(there are rumors but ugh,...rumors) or when Funi will get more.

If you want DGM to continue to get dubbed, show support for the show and buy the SAVE releases. Any buy will help Funi get it in gear and tell them to get the rest. Spread the love to your anime friends and have them buy it.

This is a wonderful series that needs to be finished.

so is there even talks of the next part being dubbed? I kinda lost interest in this once funi got rights to Fairy tail, cause i see funi going for more fairy tail before DGM

Ok, Denstu (company that owns DGM and FT), they're upped the licensing cost for DGM. Funimation said they wanted to continue it, but Denstu wants 5 times as more money for DGM. Funi is trying to reason with them, but they're hoping for the SAVE sells to be good, so they can pick it up.

I personally thinks it's crap, as I know Funi can afford it. But they fear it won't break even. But I"m pretty sure that the money they get from DBZ and all those other titles would cover it.

5 times you say?
It seems hypocritical for Funi to not disclose the cost of licensing shows when they get the contracts because it would be against the best interest of their company and the license holder but will talk about licensing costs when they don't get a contract.

5 times was what I was told. MOre or less, someone said Denstu wants an insane amount for it. DGM sold well, but not enough for them to up the price that high.

I think this is as good of a thread as any to ask what has always perplexed me:

When I watched 52-103, it seemed like they were almost identical repeats of 1-51. At the time, I did not have the option of buying it, so i had downloaded it. Did someone troll me and it was just season 1 again, or was it really almost identical?

But, righteous outrage aside, 5x doesn't mean a lot without knowing the base.

Why can't it be that Funi got the first season for an insanely cheap amount but can't get the same super-saver deal this time 'round? of course your assumption that Dentsu wants an insane amount is the typical reaction that is wanted in order to shift blame from distributor who's not able to get a show. Both assumptions have the same flaw, no clue what was actually paid and reliance your source's opinion of what is insane or high.

@Rhyono, Episdoes 1-51 are vastly different from 52-103.

No clue what you watched, but I'll just say you probably would have known if you watched the second half of the show. I don't recall it being anything like the first. In fact it was heck of a lot better story-wise. Anyhow, if you saw spoiler[Level 3 and Level 4 Akuma, Lenalee turned into a giant crystal for while and cut her hair super short, and everyone faced off against a bunch from the Noah clan] then you might have.

As for the original topic I certainly hope they do get the rest, but it's been so long since the original first half was licensed and released that if they were going to get it they would have done so already. I really really hope they do finish the series though, the second half is the part of the series I really want to own. Sad

Because Funimation paid for it cheap because Denstu wasn't sure how well it would sell over in the US, but it turned around and sold well, meaning they want more money for they're hard work they put in DGM. Just their asking price was up there were with how it sold, it wouldn't break even. Denstu just isn't buding on the price, making it to were Funi can't "afford" it.

I want to see Lavi kicking Allen's ass....in English. I want to hear Todd during the Allen/Lavi moments. And I can already hear Jason's dark tone he'll use as Deek. Man has a nice voice when he's not speaking in a high-pitched tone for his kid roles.

I did see that. I may have seen the ending part twice (i.e. some of the episodes towards the end of season 1 having been switched out for season 2) or something like that.
