Wut.

When we say that we don't want Miku to totally whore herself out selling Corollas, I think that doesn't mean that the commercials should NOT HAVE THE PRODUCT AT ALL. Seriously, what am I watching?? All that I got out of that ad is that I kind of want a bacon-wrapped hot dog (except that guy doesn't seem to be selling them).

The negi in the hair was funny though.

The irony being that the guy who actually pushing the bacon wrapped hotdog cart outside of the LACC didn't look anywhere near as classy as the guy in the vid...but the hotdogs were amazing...

Does she sing about bacon wrapped hot-dogs in her songs or something? Cause I know she was known for her leek spin... but I haven't heard a thing about hot-dogs and thus have no idea what these commercials are going for.

And if I, an anime fan, have no idea what they're going for... then good luck Toyota.

I think the bacon-wrapped hot dogs are a Los Angeles thing?
(That's what I gathered after a google search. Though I may be waaay off.)

I just kinda wish these would air on TV, that'd be interesting. ^^

These commercials are becoming as insane as Japanese TV commercials (if you've ever seen some J-commercials, particularly those starring Hollywood stars, you'd know what we're talking about). Laughing

Anyways, for direct Youtube links:

Yes, bacon-wrapped hot dogs are one of the Los Angeles styles of hot dogs. Generally, I see them with grilled onions on them though, not just the bacon wrapped around it. But I guess if that's how Miku likes them, then the hot dog guy can't complain.

It's not the signature Los Angeles hot dog though. At least...in the same sense that Chicago dogs are the signature Chicago hot dog.

(Is it true that bacon has really caught on in Japan? Because if so, then that must be why whoever wrote this chose bacon-wrapped hot dogs.)

This makes no sense anymore, and it hurts to watch these. I can only imagine what non-Vocaloid/anime fans would say about these "commercials".

I can no longer see how this is a promotion for the Corolla. Apart from the Toyota logo, does anyone else see a connection?

I don't know about you guys but I think bacon-wrapped hotdogs sound absolutely nasty and I'm not sure why Toyota think Miku wants one 8/ Especially enough to make two ads about it.

also, this many ads and they still can't pronounce 'Hatsune Miku'.

(on top of everything, I still really dont like the 3D Miku they're using. What's wrong with the concert one? There are fan-made MMD Miku models that look better than this one. It didn't look so bad in the 'chitchat' video but it does here. I would have thought the concert model would be the obvious choice?)

So far I love Miku no matter what the setting. I don't much care for her selling out to the american norm of lame commercials though.
Not to mention, I'm very paranoid about the english speaking Miku.... I can hear the american rap music from here .. "Yo, Miku daddy-o" (scratch scratch record scratch" ....... lame lame lame

For starters, the Corolla hasn't been as good since they discontinued the AE86 line in 1987. Company wise, Toyota hasn't been interesting since they dumped the Supra and went all Beige.

Secondly, it's pretty sad to see Toyota turn into this. In fact, it's pretty bad to see companies nowadays think of doing such advertising ideas and ideas. It's like many of these corporate types as so out of touch with society today it's a wonder how some of these folks function day in and day out.

Some people come visit Los Angeles to eat bacon-wrapped hot dogs. There are stands all over the place around here.

Toyota doesn't make the commercials. It hires an advertising firm to do it. An ad firm receives information and usually supplies from its client, the firm produces the commercial, and the company pays the firm. I believe Toyota's current ad firm is Satchi & Satchi. It may be that Satchi & Satchi didn't receive whatever Corolla car they're supposed to advertise about, so they just made a nonsensical commercial.

I'm not sure what you mean by "ideas," but if you refer to weird endorsements, TV commercials have always done that sort of thing. It's no different than Molly Goldberg wisecracking with her family, then suddenly she looks directly at the camera, pulls out a can of Sanko coffee, and starts praising it for a minute.
