FUNi has the DVD rights. Rights are typically explicitly written, and unless it's in the contract, then someone else could bid for those rights.

I wonder if Kondasha's releases are any different than Del Rey ones. They will soon release next volume of Zetsubou and I would love if covers would have the same feel as Del Rey releases. There is something about that paper that makes me want to touch the covers whole day (yeah, that does sound weird).
And, what's with those hidden messages from ANN? First time I see something like that... |

Does anyone know if this Blu-Ray boxset not by Funimation will have the same dub track on it?

As Baccano! was not created with HD animation to begin with, what strong incentive is there for me, a big Baccano! fan, to bother with this? There will be an improvement in audio, I know, but as I'm not enough of an audiophile to appreciate the difference...? I'm not seeing any new extras, no art books, nada. What's the point of buying this when I have my nice DVDs?

It's not just an upscale, it's a f-cking amazing upscale. Look at the comparisons yourself.

That doesn't look even remotely close to "[expletive] amazing" for Blu-ray, even for an upscale. Sure, it's better than blowing up FUNimation's (always) crappy DVD encoding, but it's still fuzzy and filled with artifacts all over the place. |

Looks like a fine upscale to me. There is not a lot of filters(I actually like film grain in some shows) or enhancement tools mucking up the colors and brightness just to give the appearance that something was done to film.

I received Negima 29 and it is almost exactly the same as the Del Rey cover designs. |

Is it wrong for a 17 year-old to be more excited about "Project A-ko" once again being in print than about the newer anime releases and upscale of "Baccano"? :S

Huh, my DVDs looked way better than that. Maybe there's something wrong with your computer? Anyway, not enough of a difference to make me want to bother with $60 on Blu-Rays that I can't play yet anyway (no Blu-ray player and no HD TV). |

A side by side comparison is better than recalling the pictures in your mind. If you produced a screenshot from your DVDs to compare with the BD the truth might shock you.
I don't think this BD set is marketed to convince people to buy the set, a BD player, and a HD TV. |
