Based on that video, I thought it was an STD.

Crisis! Now the heck will overweight otaku be able to "exercise" on the go?
It's disturbing (but not really surprising) to note cell phones can now get viruses though. Although, mine's probably way too primitive to be affected by any of them.

I lol'ed at the video.
It is rather scary that phones can get viruses, but I guess that is what happens when you pirate stuff.

You know, I wonder how such a virus would affect me if I picked it up... I keep my data functions turned off most of the time to save battery. I wonder if that would mess with how it worked?

That is why you should always use protection...When downloading anything from the internet.
But I guess it's really true, Droid does what others don't. That now apparently includes the chance of getting viruses on your phone.

Hacked iPhone have also been hit with this kind of stuff for a long time now. Its really not uncommon when pirating phone apps and I am surprised this hasn't hit Japan until now all things considered.

1) Death to (Cr/H)ackers! Obviously these people weren't beat up enough in high school, so it's time to finish the job... in a federal (or 3rd world) Pound-You-in-the-Azz prison. I have no pity or mercy for cyber criminals.
That said...
2) I'm surprised legitimate businesses aren't (if they don't already) commissioning said cyber criminals to flood the pirate market with infected material to deter pirating and bootlegging by "bricking" infected electronics.
If you can't appeal to ethics or their sense of decency, then how about making them think twice before they torrent, least they get the digital equivalent of Herpes, Hepatitis or AIDS on their electronics.

Seriously? I mean I have heard of people getting hit by viruses on smart phones before, but I figured the iPhone was slightly different than the other smart phones in the respect that it has a closed circuit internet program.

That's cute. There's no such thing. Anything that is connected to the internet has the capability of having a virus. The only reason that viruses are not more prevalent in Mac OS X is that there isn't all that much gain for the hackers. Businesses overwhelmingly use UNIX/Linux/Windows servers and that's where the real gain for hackers is. Apple has I believe a 10% or less share in the personal computing market, so again, there's not much priority there.
However, in smart-phones, I'm pretty sure Apple has a much larger percentage of the market, so they'll be pretty susceptible to viral attacks.
