This poll chiefly shows the achingly obvious fact that the audience for something is mostly interested in what's currently popular. I don't think that this was meant to provide some consensus on artistic merit. These results would probably correlate strongly with those of a poll about favorite series, with exceptions naturally allowed for those with overwhelming reputations, namely Hayao Miyazaki. On the whole, it's almost a superfluous exercise.
It is nice to see Satoshi Kon ranked highly, even if it's not really possible to follow, in a conventional sense, him anymore. I must cynically wonder where he might have placed if this poll had been taken a year ago. |

I really wish Katsuhiro Otomo would direct another animated film soon..and Atsushi Wakabayashi isn't a series or film director but he is a episodic director..anything he touches turns into gold..he has worked on such animated series as Yu Yu Hakusho,Naruto and Naruto Shippuden..any episode he works on always has crisp and fluid high film quality type of animation..Studio Pierrot's finest no doubt.

In the age of moe, someone who delves into moe... You're looking at 2 of what I'd consider big 4 recent moe related shows. K-ON!, Bakemonogatari, Angel Beats, and Madoka Magica. Well, he is a good director and deserves praise regardless. After all he knew how to please his target with his two main shows. |

Clearly I just winged it, but I'm curious as to how one goes about finding that information out. I said what I did because when I go to his page, I see that he did Key Animation or shows like FLCL, Cutey Honey, and Kare Kano, shows with some pretty slick scenes, so I thought I'd made a safe assumption. |

@Braves
Thanks for those MADs and the info. I don't follow staff like you do, but I still appreciate the work they do and would like to know who does the stand out scenes I see. Like, for example, I am soooooooo happy to finally know who did the opening fight scene in Mahoromatic and will keep an eye out for Yoh Yoshinari (and Sushio) when looking over staff lists. |
